Psychotic Disorder

 Mr .B called police to report that he had killed his wife and he wanted to be arrested. He confessed that he was holding the knife that he used to kill his wife (West & Noffsinger, 2006). It was in the evening when Mr. B was waiting for his wife to come from work when she walked into the house wearing the red sweater, which Mr. B said it was representing that her wife was committing adultery with several men. He said that he had to kill his wife so that he could save her from damnation for adultery, where he stabbed her seventeen times. After hewas arrested, he was charged for murder, where he was hospitalized, and it was recognized that he was insane. After been under medication when he was in jail, he regained his memory, and it was difficult for him that he killed his wife. He tried to plead to his relatives and court that he had a mental illness when he killed his wife, but they refuse to forgive her.

The decision of whether the court should prove an individual who has mental illness guilty is when the court can understand the effect of the action done by the defendant.The defendant isrequired to be investigated by a professional health officer beforethe court makes its final decision(Janofsky, Vandewalle, & Rappeport, 1989). The defendant is not to be found guilty if, during the crime, he or she had a mental illness.This isbecause mentalillness can hinder an individual from realizing right or wrong when committing a felony; thus, defense one not to be guilty by insanity.  However, in some cases, the defendant may be proved guilty, but due to his or her health condition may only give a severe punishment (Almeida et al., .2010).

Mr .B calling 911 operators and police to confess that he had killed his wife and he was holding the knife that he had used to stab her was a clear indication that he was insane (West & Noffsinger, 2006). This because it was aware of his action he has tried to hide his wife’s body, run away, or he could have lied to the police that he was not responsible for his death. Mr .B co-operated with the place well when there came to arrest him, and he confessed what he did with confidence..

Mr.B did not do anything to object the offense. Thus he appeared innocently before the police even without any signs of emotions or guilty. He discloses everything he did to the police without fear of any judgment. How Mr. B   expressed himself in the jail showed that he was entirely not aware had was murdered his wife, which was very illegal.

Honesty and sincerity that was displayed by Mr.B in the court made it difficult for the lawyers to prove her guilty for his actions. This because of how he confessed his action in the court without hiding anything to the police. He confessed how he killed his wife to save him from the damnation of adultery. Mr .B also showed sincerity after undergoing medication and regain his healthy condition where he cried bitterly, wishing that he could be able to fix his actions, but it was late (West & Noffsinger, 2006).He also pleaded with his mother in –law and minister that to understand him that he had a mental illness that he did not kill his wife intentionally.
