For quite a while now, laptops and tablets have been part of the daily classroom activities in most learning institutions. In developed countries, mobile learning and the use of technology in classrooms has become a paradigm in the education sector. There have been arguments that describe the effects of use and access to digital technology in classes. The impacts of laptops and tablets are vast, having both the beneficial and consequential results on their users.

Laptops and tablets can be useful in enhancing student participation in classrooms. In research to demonstrate the effectiveness of laptops in learning, students who used laptops posted slightly higher grades than those without notebooks or tablets. This result was because most students using either their personal or borrowed devices tended to ask more questions compared to the traditional classroom system. The result was that most students would find solutions to their problems without having to approach their teachers personally.

On the other hand, there was the negative side of using these devices in learning. The research proved that the use of laptops also coursed lots of distractions.
