WOMEN HEALTH
Birth control is a safe family planning method when done correctly and therefore needs to be prioritized by the government. The birth control pills, for instance, have a high probability of effectiveness of about 99 percent (Alexander et al. 101). Although the birth control methods may have some adverse effects, they may not match the outcome of unwanted pregnancy. The adverse outcomes do not surpass the positive results, such as lowering the prevalence of breast cancer (Alexander et al. 102). Also, according to Norsigian (n.p), the majority of the birth control methods have been extensively researched, making them safe for use. The government of the United States should, therefore, make it a priority the access to birth control for women.. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
The access to birth control for women needs to be a government’s priority since it helps women in planning for their future and that of their families. Since young people are sexually active, the women may get pregnant while not married; something that hurts their plans in life. As Melinda gates state, her decision to take birth control while she was young was to have an excellent opportunity for learning and achieve her dreams without having some other unplanned responsibilities to attend(). Secondly, the prioritization of the birth control is of help in preventing the health problems that could occur in a family due to closeness in age between siblings. For instance, Alexander (n.p.) states that young adolescent women have birth problems that profoundly affect their children’s health. The children borne of these women may die before the age of five years if they are born in less than two years after their mothers had birth complications in a previous birth. Therefore it becomes of vital importance for them to take birth control to lengthen the period between their births to protect their families. Thus it becomes of concern for the government to prioritize access to birth control as it has positive outcomes o women and their families.
