Coronavirus: Vatican City confirms first case, Two-year-old Swedish child infected after Italy trip.

Coronavirus has struck the Vatican City, despite the many steps taken to prevent the spread of the infection in the city.

The Vatican City, located in the middle of the Italian capital, Rome, has registered its first case of coronavirus.

The Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said Friday.

The infection was discovered Thursday. Parts of the Vatican’s health clinic have subsequently been shut down to be cleaned.

However, the emergency department remains open, it says.

There are around 1,000 residents of the small independent state, which is the Pope’s home and a popular tourist destination.

However, the ongoing outbreak of coronavirus, which has particularly hit Italy, means that many tourists will keep off.

In recent days, the Vatican City has taken a number of measures to combat the spread of the virus. Among other things, changes are being considered in Pope Frans’s schedules.

The 83-year-old pope announced at his Sunday prayer last week that he won’t attend an annual trip to the south of Rome due to a cold. He had been seen sniffing and coughing before then.

The Vatican has since emphasized that it is a mere cold and that it is therefore not related tothe coronavirus outbreak.

Two-year-old Swedish child infected after Italy trip.

A two-year-old child from the Swedish region of Örebro is among a total of 60 people who have now been tested positive for coronavirus in Sweden.

Örebro’s first case was confirmed on Wednesday, and on Thursday it appears that a two-year-old who recently traveled to Italy was also infected.

Another child has also been tested positive for the infectious virus in Sweden.

It is a student at the Campus Manilla school in the Swedish capital. The school has therefore been closed. Eight-year-old Swedish princess Estelle attends second grade at the school.

On Thursday, seven new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the southern Swedish region of Skåne. All the infected had recently toured northern Italy.

A total of nine people have thus been infected with the virus in Skåne.

Northern Italy is the European epicenter for the spread of the infectious coronavirus. Across Italy, over 3,000 people have been infected and 100 people have since died as a result of coronavirus.

On Thursday, the region of Västra Götaland also registered another case of coronavirus. It was the region’s first case outside Gothenburg. That person has also been diagnosed with the virus after a trip to Italy.

The outbreak of coronavirus has its epicenter in the Chinese million city of Wuhan.

Globally, over 95,000 people have been infected during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. Over 3200 people have died as a result of infection as per the latest statement Thursday from American Johns Hopkins University, which follows the outbreak closely.
