Climate Change and Global Warming
Science considers renewable energy sources as natural and clean. However, the continued and excessive use of these forms leads to an adverse impact on the climate and environment. Renewable energy sources emit substantial quantities of greenhouse gases such as methane, nitrogen dioxide, and carbon dioxide that are harmful to the ecosystem. The increase of these gases in the atmosphere leads to global warming, which is the rise in the amount of heat withheld by the sun onto the earth (Mariam 17). The major features of climatic change include an increase in global temperature, a rise in ocean temperatures and acidity, melting of glaciers and ice caps, and changes in cloud cover. Climatic change has led to extreme weather conditions such as frequent droughts, hot heat waves, heavy rainfall, and powerful hurricanes. Solutions
Climatic change is a significant threat to the global population. According to Liu (487), humans should adopt actions that limit and mitigate the magnitude of global warming and related effects. In general, the primary solution to climate change lies in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere. In addition, humans need to implement adaptation strategies and plans to limit the prevalence of the problem. Communities need to build resilience by adopting appropriate technologies and diversifying their livelihoods to cope with the adverse effects. Reforestation is among the solutions that can be implemented at local, state, and international levels. According to Liu (488), reforestation plays a crucial role in rectifying and improving the quality of human life by absorbing the pollution effects of greenhouse gases. In addition, the restocking of trees helps in rebuilding natural habitats and mitigating global warming, thus improving the quality of life.
Role of the International Green Movement (IGM)
The objective of IGM will be to facilitate the continuous improvement of the world by replanting trees and other indigenous plants. The non-profit enterprise will focus on mobilizing communities within New York State to help in the preservation of forests. IGM will develop programs that help residents in adapting to the effects of climate change, restore natural ecosystems, and conserve the biodiversity in the region. Framework of the Strategy
The IGM will need a strategic plan that will assist not only in the organizational development but also in promotion and fundraising activities. Despite having a mission statement, IGM might not have a clear direction or actionable strategies. The key does develop the IGM framework is performing a SWOT analysis. The core objective is to understand the NPO’s core competencies, strengths, weaknesses, as well as understanding why donors would be attracted.
IGM operates on the strengths that the communities highly need services that seek to improve the livelihoods. The NPOs have a clearly defined mission, which will guide through the strategic framework. The focus of most NPOs in addressing this problem is adopting initiatives that seek to reduce the trend. However, the common challenge is directing the monies and activities wisely to reduce emissions. Some of the cost-effective and valuable organizations seeking to address the problem of climatic change and global warming include the following.
Clean Air Task Force
This NPO based in the US focusses on reducing air pollution since its establishment in 1996. Clean Air Task Force leads a successful initiative to reduce the impact of global warming caused by industries that use coal energy. The objective of this NPO is to limit carbon dioxide emissions in the US. Moreover, the organization helps the government in establishing and implementing regulations of methane and diesel emissions.
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPC)
The World Meteorological Organization, in collaboration with the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), established the IPPC. The objective of the NPO is to provide scientific assessment reports on global warming, climate change effects, future risks, and mitigation options. IPCC provides other organizations with information, which provides the basis for policymaking, actions, and establishment of initiatives.

The IGM seeks to address the effects of emanating from climatic change and global warming. Approximately twenty percent of greenhouse emissions result from overexploitation of non-renewable energy sources, including forest degradation and deforestation.

IGM’s branding will incorporate the translation of the mission and strategic plan into a tangible design. The will seek volunteers to help create an engaging message that translates IGM’s effort to solve the climatic change effects. The organization’s logo will include the green design of a river flowing through a forest. These elements will help to differentiate the IGM brand from other NPOs. Moreover, the message creates an emotional resonance with the environment.

IGM will utilize several marketing strategies to generate funds and volunteers for the organization. The NPO will develop a social media marketing strategy to reach new donors, audience, and gain necessary exposure. IGM will develop advertisements on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram to establish an avenue for potential individuals interested in the NPO. A crucial part of the strategy is to build a mobile-optimized website, which will share IGM’s mission, initiatives, and donation links. In addition, the organization will form partnerships with volunteer groups, government agencies, and entities within New York State. Notably, IGM will share the organization’s mission with mainstream media outlets for possible news coverage.
5. Revenue Generation
The core business of IGM will be unprofitable in nature. The NGO hopes to rely on generosity and goodwill of the public to cater for the costs of the organization’s initiatives. However, in the modern world, such a revenue stream is inadequate to cover all the growing needs of IGM. If the expense of this NGO exceeds the inflows, the organization may be forced to reduce the quality and quality of operations. IGM will rely on donations and the establishment of a foundation to finance its core operations.
The traditional approach to acquiring funds for non-profit enterprises is through the receipt of donations from individuals and organizations. Since IGM is a small and upcoming enterprise, this revenue approach would be a challenge to implement. However, IGM will establish a mobile-optimized website that will assist in getting attention from well-wishers. IGM will also create a community foundation in New York to supplement the donations revenue stream. The organization will approach sustainability entities such as MOVE Systems, 4th Bin, The Wally Shop, And Howgood for possible collaborations. In addition, IGM will approach New York-based companies that advance corporate social responsibility in their organizational mission. Furthermore, the NGO will contact Sustainable NYC Company for the possibility of establishing a foundation. This entity commits to providing customers with sustainable green products and meets the highest level of workplace standards. Notably, IGM will use social media to raise funds to further the organization’s mission. One strategy will be to create an account with GoFundMe, which allows prospective donors to give their monies easily to this NGO.
6. Conclusion
The problem of climate change and global warming has far-reaching effects on all countries in the world. There have been uncontrollable bushfires, flooding, tornadoes, and extreme weather conditions that affect nations. This assignment has helped me in understanding that even though world countries are differentiated through territorial boundaries, we all face a common problem of global warming. The establishment of IGM will help to help communities in New York to adapt to these conditions. The growth and expansion of this NPO will play a significant role in helping the entire world cope with the effects of climate change. If this problem is not addressed, the globe will continue to experience more extreme weather conditions leading to loss of human lives and biodiversity. This assignment has helped me acknowledge how individuals establish NPOs and align strategies to ensure the achievement of the goals.
