Favorite Romantic Movie
The film ‘Mary Marry Me’ involves family and friendship. It narrates a story of two sisters, Mary Jane and Mary Anne. (“Gonzaga: Mary, Marry Me”) explains how the younger sister, Mary Anne, is set to marry her sister’s former boyfriend, Pete. Surprisingly, Mary Jane supports her sister in her wedding arrangements to the extent that she no longer holds any grievances against her ex-boyfriend. The film is a depiction of how socialization breeds love and heal hatred.
The movie eternalizes the myths in the article named the Great Expectations. For example, Marry Anne believes that all one needs love, and that is why she does not find it hard to fall in love with her sister’s former boyfriend (Polly 37) says that when there is love in marriage, the couple can withstand all challenges. Besides, Marry Jane like, (Polly 38), Mary Jane admits that when one gets married, they build their family legacy. Therefore, she advises her sister to devote to commit to her relationship for her marriage to be stable.
The most important symbols in the film are premiere night and blockbuster’s re-union (“Gonzaga: Mary, Marry Me”). The premiere night shows Mary Anne’s bravery and her readiness to love. At the same time, the blockbuster’s re-union indicates that Mary Jane has forgiven Pete and is ready to welcome him to their family as her sister’s husband.
Social class does not play any role in the movie. Instead, love does, as Marry Anne and Pete are ready to show their love for each other despite the circumstances. According to (Dunbar 4), one can only inhibit romantic feelings at its early stage and not forever. Therefore, the two lovers believe that their love will only grow with time. In the film, family units play a significant role in Anne’s and Pete’s relationship. According to (“Gonzaga: Mary, Marry Me”), Jane assists Anne with her marriage plans and offers advice as well. With the support Anne gets from her sister, she is likely to create a functional family. The most evident values in the movie are forgiveness and acceptance, which (Polly 38) says to be crucial in forming not only romantic but social relationships. Marry Jane forgives Pete while Anne accepts him even though he hurt her sister.
