Introduction

The “2BR02B” (To Be or Not To Be) is one of Kurt Vonnegut’s short fiction story which was written back in 1962. The story is quite impressive. According to me after reading the story, it is obvious to say that the message that the author wanted to across has been well delivered. The short story has a title that captures the attention of the reader as it is different from the usual titles given to the story.  At the beginning of the article, we are given a summary of the current situation of the world. We see the state of the world is not promising as the various institution are not operational leaving everything to chaos. The insane people have no place where they can get the help they need. The world, as known, has changed so much. According to Kurt (1962), everything in the world is perfect, as men have swelled it well. The society is seen to be accurate as the diseases have been conquered, there are no slums, prisons, insane asylums are no more, no people with disabilities, and wars are no longer a thing. The people have evolved dramatically to the extent of not aging. With the development of medicine, the aging issue was dealt with. The main theme which Kurt Vonnegut is trying to put across is the issue of overpopulation as there are many people in the perfect looking community bring about the theme of a Falsified Utopian Society.

It is a story of a grim future where the fundamental issue in the world is maintaining the status. From Kurt Vonnegut’s story 2BR02B, it presents a humor which is dark in that the society is divided into different Utopia society dimensions. This location of the story gives off an impression of being a Utopia Society from the start, much the same as many Dystopias. The creator refers to how there are no detainment facilities, infections, poverty, or war. There is music, which fulfills a lot of individuals. Utopian Societies morally do not exist in reality. People have increased their number after the development of medicine, which makes it possible to have a perfect world as they call it. There are no wars and disease, prison, and people can live for more than 200 years. With this in might, the authors show the implication that arises from this. People are a force to kill each other for others to live and survive. We see the department of termination is in charge of making this possible. People are a force to find volunteers to give their lives for kids to be born and live. It brings us to the theme of life and death. Here some people have to die for others to live. It is a law that has been made by the Government. Vonnegut effectively shows an alternate idealistic world while inciting the pursuers to feel similar feelings he felt for an incredible duration. He shows how government control removes individuals’ distinction and opportunity using imagery, tone, and characters. The images and the characters depict how ordinary individuals in the new world need difference.
