Approaching Strangers.
Approaching people you don’t know can, at times, be too difficult. As philosophers put it, that the way you say things is more important than what you say. This is the guide to approaching strangers. In a bid to effectively approach a stranger and hold a meaningful conversation that would be termed as successful, one must approach the person from the front with a firm handshake. Establish eye contact is another powerful tool that should be employed. Lastly, the conversation should be a little casual to create a conducive environment for the person you are talking to, to be able to relay the required information openly.
Reflection on my experience, I once had the task of talking to a high profile CEO, Mr. Tony Jay. Visiting his office, I knocked and was let in by the secretary. I later requested to speak to the CEO, Mr. Jay, and I was asked to get into his office. To start, I said good morning while firmly gripping his hand, he replied, and there the conversation kicked off. Maintaining a stun eye contact is another thing that saved me a bunch, for it was an indication of a serious matter at hand. The experience with the CEO felt a little nervous, but it was all in all a good one. From experience, I learned that how one expresses themselves is what matters a lot in dealing with people you don’t know.
