Aside from the competitive angle, cycling is also good for your health. You could also cycle to work if it’s close to reduce your carbon footprint. This nation is blessed with vast terrain with excellent biking trails that can fill your weekend’s itinerary. So whether you’re a professional, commuter or hobbyist, you’re sure to find like-minded individuals in biking events.
Here are some of Canada’s premier BMX and mountain bike events:

Yukon Arctic Ultra
Red Bull TV is always at the cutting edge of extreme sport. The Yukon Arctic Ultra is a prime example of one of their toughest events. It happens every February deep in Whitehorse, Canada. Deep in the dead of the Canadian winter.
This 13-day event is a real test of man against Nature. The race takes riders through a 430-mile outdoor course. There are also shorter routes of 100 and 300 miles. The temperatures can drop to – 50C. Therefore, this is not only a test of endurance but mental fortitude as well. Luckily, you can catch the live courage on TV.
Jagger stunt shows
If you love BMX, you should check out the Krusher stunt team. This team travels everywhere to conduct live demos and challenge the local populous. This includes festivals, malls, sporting events and any other place they can set up. Their theatrics are an excellent display of boldness, courage and real skill.
Each show will leave you breathless and craving for more. You get to see highflying stunts, 360-degree spins, backflips, bar spins and other crowd favourites. They perform three shows a day, and you can even book them for your event.
Slush Fest Fat Bike Festival
Each April, Sir Sam’s Ski and ride host this festival for all fat-bike lovers. The ski course turns into a fat-bike play course for one day only. You can take your turn on the technical route or challenge your friend on the slalom. There’s also a cross-track where you can go head to head with other riders.
Each may the Hospital of Eastern Ontario hosts this charity cycling event. All the proceeds go towards children who have cancer. It takes place at the Ottawa war museum and the neighbouring grounds of LeBreton Flats. There are three bike races (15, 35, and 70 km), and it’s not competitive.
Women’s 4 Hour MTB Relay
This mountain bike relay brings together women from all over. They get to challenge a 6km loop in a 4-hour relay. This event is all about fostering friendship, sportsmanship and just having clean fun.
