Background
Baseball is well known round the globe and the United States of American as the escape for many fans. During the winter doldrums, it has severally served as the escape for millions of fans with the Major League Spring Training being one of the early reminders that the harshness that come with the season of winter is over.( Ozili & Arun,2020).
In history and during the attacks of 9-11 with the fans of all sports coming together as the spectators to watch the famous Great American Pastime, it helped to calm the situation. At that time, the society faced full display of a large tragedy. That event brought together many fans and it was able to bring normalcy by mending the wounds of the nation from the disastrous chaos.
At the moment the rest of the world and the united states of American face unfamiliar pandemic, one of its kind in modern history. The menace so unfamiliar is the covid-19. The coronavirus as mostly called put the humanity to a world scale. World and the most powerful leaders in the world are desperately looking for ways of militating against this pandemic. In the hope of stopping the massive spread of the highly contagious and the dangerous virus that has shaken the whole world. Many nations have opted in quarantining large mass of people to evade the spread.(Gallego et al.,2020).
The world governing and regulation sports bodies have suspended their schedule of matches and fixtures without a clear date of its resumption. The hope is that soon the Covid-19 will be contained and the lifting of the suspension shall be done. Many major sports bodies such as the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, the National Football League as well as the Major League Baseball have all had to toe to the line.
The famous NCAA has cancelled many institution based activities with both the women’s and the men’s championships being suspended. Their highly rated sport event, the March Madness that brings into the Culmination of the national champion for the basketball has also been cancelled.
The Major League Baseball opted to postpone and cancel the season for the Spring Training until such a time that it dims fit. The basketball fans will have to wait until the virus is completely contained, instead of them making the eventual rosters of their favourite teams as well as participating in the fantasy of baseball just before the resumption of the sport activities.
The humanity and the fans of Baseball enter to the territory that is unchartered on matters COVID-19. In many times before, baseball has negatively been impacted by the world events including various disputes but not to the extent of COVID-19 pandemic.
At the moment, a suspension of two weeks has been announced by Major League Baseball. But the planning on reassessment of the situation even as the tentative dates nears. They could move further the resumption of the sport activities as the circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 keep on worsening.
In the past, we have had other pandemics like the Spanish Flu that caused discontinuation of the sport just a little bit which existed for fifteen months between the year of 1918 and the year of 1919. There was also another stoppage in 1918, just before the Spanish flue had occurred, as the entry by American to the First World War was confirmed.
Beside the aforementioned events, the Major League Baseball had also been suspended in the year 1944, the month of June. This was caused by the Famous D-Day and then again during the horrific events of terrorism in the famous Al-Qaida bombing of the Twin Towers in the year 2001 the month of September. In these three events, baseball has never postponed in the same manner in which the covid-19 has done, beside the normal labour disputes.
At this moment, it is not yet known whether the Major League Baseball has an intention of making further changes to cover for the activities missed impacted by the coronavirus. Right now, we are still in early stages of the pandemic and it is wrong to make a determination as for the future of the season.
Based on the manner in which the numerous baseball games have been postponed ultimately, the option for the making up of the missed games will remain a nightmare. Our fans make us stay afloat in the market as they generate a lot of revenue to us. It is therefore true to say that our baseball fans belong to the groups of people within that category. (Salaga & Juravich,2020).
This group also has a lot of interested characters who would want to invest in this sport. As you know, this sport depends on sponsorships by various companies and therefore it would trigger the directors of known companies invest in the sport. Therefore for its running, we need lots of income. We can use televisions and other advertising media to the market as we join in the fight against the pandemic.
Message
The advert “Passing Cloud” has its objective self-explained. A passing cloud will therefore be there momentarily and will not have many casualties. This will mean that coronavirus will be there for a moment and soon we will be back to our normal operations. The advert will emphasize on the need to keep social distancing, washing hands all the time through sanitizing, staying at home at the peak of this as well as getting tested whenever we feel some mild illnesses. The message is clear, stay informed on the emerging issues concerning the pandemic and soon we will be back to normal life. (Mehta et al.,2020).
Reasons
There is each and every reason to watch the advert. The first thing is that it appealing to the eyes of the viewers because of the Imagery used. The second thing is that we will draw a lot of curiosity as we intend to show our products concerning our sport activities. The Major League Baseball fixtures and the current news are contained in the advert. Our matches will resume soon and hence keep watching the advert and donate something to fight the deadly virus. (Reade & Singleton,2020).
Execution
Most television shows will be full of our advert. After every broadcast, the advert will be running in the world leading sports stations such as Super sports, the BT Sport, the world leading news stations like the BBC and the CNN.
Our content will be broadcasted via radios like the Voice of America, the Voice of Africa and many other radio stations in the globe
