MODELLING ASSOCIATION OF MACHAKOS UNIVERSITY CONSTITUTION.

Article (1)-Organization Name

The name of the association will be Modelling Association of Machakos University{MAMU}

Article(2)-Mission and Goals

Section 1:Our Mission

ü To develop and refine modeling and fashion students into exceptional role models by providing forums for academic growth, industry experience, leadership roles, and career-enhancing opportunities.

Section 2:Our Goals

  • To promote a passion for the industry by providing opportunities to gain knowledge, practical skills, and participate in modeling events.
  • To create awareness and sensitization of both younger and older generations concerning social life.

Article(3)-Membership

Section 1: Membership statement.

Student membership is open to all students enrolled in the Machakos University-Main Campus. To register a registration fee of Ksh 100 and a monthly fee of Ksh.50 will be required.

Section 2: Recruitment.

It is scheduled to take place each academic year and membership open at all times.

Section 3: Voting Rights.

Only active student members are legible to vie for any of the association leadership roles and vote.

Section 4:Revocation Of Membership.

Membership will be revoked with immediate effect for violation of any of the constitution’s provisions or the Student’s Code of Conduct. The member will be notified in writing of the possible revocation and will be allowed to address the association

to relate to members of any relevant defense.

Section 5:Reistatement of Membership.

Membership will only be reinstated if a full semester elapses or pardoned if not found guilty of accusations by the association bench.

Article(4)Association’s Leadership.

Section 1: Eligibility of a leader.

Potential officers must meet the minimum eligibility requirements of active student membership, as stated in Article 3, Section 1. All officers of the organization shall have posses at least the minimum requirements regarding academic performance, disciplinary standing, and financial contribution to the club. Leaders who fail to meet their obligations during their tenure shall be withdrawn with immediate effect. In addition to this, only active student members are legible for selection to an office position.

Section 2:Titles and Duties

The members of the association (In hierarchical order ) shall include a chairperson, a vice-chairperson, treasurer, and secretary. No one is allowed to hold more than two posts in the organization.

  1. The Chairperson

a)Supervise and coordinate the activities of the organization.

b)Preside over all the meetings and call the meetings to order.

c)Ensure all those in office perform their respective responsibilities as mandated in the constitution.

d)Assign special projects to officers.

e)Presiding over the organization’s budget.

f)Reporting to the university management progress and activities of the club.

  1. The Vice-Chairperson

a)Assist the chairperson in delegating his or her responsibilities.

b)Assumes the Chairperson’s office in the absence

c)Assist in special projects entrusted by the chairperson

d)Audit financial transactions of the association.

3.The Treasurer

a)Maintain an accurate account of all association’s funds received and spend.

b)Present the budget and expenditures of the club.

c)Notifying members of unpaid ‘dues.’

d)Provision of sufficient financial records.

  1. The Secretary

a)Keep accurate meeting minutes and records.

b)Perform an oral history of the members present and maintain attendance records.

c)Keep a copy of the constitution and disburse it to relevant personnel.

Make necessary updates on any amended section(s) of the constitution.

 

Section 4: Voting rights.

All officers shall retain their voting rights. However, the Chairperson is legible to vote twice in case of a tie in the position of office.

Section 5: Terms of Office.

Term of office is ONLY limited to one academic year for each leader in office.

Article (5) Selection of officers

Section 1:Nomination Process

The nomination of officers will occur at the end of each academic year of the membership meeting. The highest-ranking officer not running for office shall facilitate the nomination process at this meeting. Also, that facilitator shall be elected by a majority vote of active student members in which active members may nominate someone of their interest by a verbal vote. However, this nominee should have satisfied the requirements, as stated in Article 5, Section 1, and 2.

Section 2:Election Process

Election of officials shall occur at the end of each academic year. The ballots shall follow the hierarchical order from top to bottom. Nominated candidates shall be given equal opportunities to address the members and sell their ideas and manifestos. Once each candidate has expressed their views, members present will carry out a secret ballot except for the facilitator or described in Section 1 above. Absentee and proxy ballots are OT permitted in the election process. The patron and the election facilitator will tabulate all the votes.

The election’s facilitator shall announce the candidate with a simple majority (More than 50%) of all votes cast by active student members. In case no candidate receives a majority of the votes, the top two candidates will head to a runoff election to break the tie.

Section 3:Assumption of office by New Officials.

Newly elected officials shall assume office after the swearing-in process a week after the election results annunciation. Outgoing leaders will assist in the transition of power and delegation of duties for a while before official resignation.

Article (6) Office Vacancies.

Section 1:Removal of Officials

Leadership will be revoked without a mutual agreement for non-participation, failure to fulfill delegated duties, and violation of any Constitution or Student Code of Conduct. The official will receive official communication through writing before he or she is allowed to face
