Information sharing on potential incidents

Outlook

When a significant event takes place, the Incident Response Team (IRT) starts preparing themselves according to the conflict to share information related to the incident. IRT can employ various techniques, either traditional or newly developed, but the main goal is to reach the most number of people possible. This can be done in many ways, and each style decides the reach of the information to the people. There can be many channels which sold be used by the IRT for this purpose.

Information Sharing channels:

The immediate persons attached to the incident should propagate the news through smartphones, and it should be made mandatory for all the members of IRT to carry one. (Sadhu et al. .2016). Smartphones nowadays can perform multiple tasks at the same time and can click pictures of the incident, which could be forwarded to relevant people for necessary action. Further news could be spread through two types of channels: printed and electronic.

Printed medium enables the team to put down relevant information on printed paper, and circulate them within the people present inside the government departments or company sections. Examples of this include notices, letters, official orders, and others. Usually, there are two ways to deliver printed information: either personally, or putting them up in places where most of the people can see them. For example, in case of any equipment malfunction due to employee carelessness, a company can put a notice in the notice board warning the defaulters. If it is required to spread the news outside the boundary of the company or the government, they can use newspapers to issue official statements.

Another way of transferring the news is through electronic media. As discussed earlier, smartphones can be a way of sharing information within the company. Also, the IRT can note down important details of the incident, plan a contingency, and forward them through emails (Gan, Chua, & Wong,2018). Further, an emergency notification can be propagated through public address systems, or intercoms, which relay audio messages to a large number of people at the same time, by the use of a microphone, and speakers placed at the most populated areas of the company. To communicate the incident to outside media or the public in general, IRT can shoes a company representative (or a government representative) who can appear in various electronic and digital platforms, and clear up any confusion or rubbish any possible rumors circulating through fake news stories or word-of-mouth. For example, in case of a war, a government official like the defense minister or the Prime Minister can address the nation through television or can use social media platforms to update people on the ongoing situation.

Conclusion:

As evident, the IRT’s primary goal is to minimize or nullify the damages which could arise due to fake news or misinformation created through various agents attached to any incident that has already tale place. This could be done by briefing the IRT members about the advantages of mass media, as well as using the internet to their benefit. Proper training would ensure that correct information is relayed to people, and further damages could be minimized or avoided.
