Information Literacy

Information Literacy is the ability to recognize information needs. Information is similar to the knowledge regarding any subject. The acquiring of that knowledge is literacy in the field. Information literacy is, therefore, the receiving of knowledge regarding a particular topic (Rader, 2019). The need for information is essential, and for any success to happen, there is a mandatory need for information to assist the development and achievements in the area. Research is the way information is developed. Researchers seek knowledge towards a specific field of interest operating from the known to the unknown. In this article t on the importance of information literacy to daily life.

The primary need for information literacy is to empower decision making. Information literacy defines a pathway through which to identify and acquire knowledge regarding the area of interest. Wh4en the area of interest is comprehensive and contains a lot of information, information literacy dictates that you classify the information per eligibility and importance then analyze it to fit objectives. Planning and being specific with what kind of information required to make it easy to acquire it quickly and in a synthesized manner. The availability of information is vast with the internet and the WEB, technology offers a wide range of information literacy. However, the wider the report, the more biased and inappropriate some of the information is. There is a need to identify the most viable and legitimate sources of information which call for prior knowledge and ability to analyze information cognitively and rationally(Hatlevik, Throndsen, Loi&Gudmundsdottir, 2018).

The ability to engage and understand information. This benefit allows information literacy to develop the capacity to build healthy minds for its users. A person with information literacy can engage information at a personal level, reflect on it, generate bias, and other beneficial aspects in the knowledge-making a conclusive decision on the viability of the data. Many sources of information on the internet and other sources available, are short term and based on mere initiation of individual people (Nord, 2019). There are unreliable and reliable concepts all over. The information is not safe for understanding a subject. The way of identifying the resources that are useful needs a person to engage and understand knowledge through information literacy perceptive.

The third importance of information literacy is its ability to be applied in all areas of life. The strength of information literacy in mathematics is beneficial in class, and also in our home budgets is a good example. The knowledge acquired through information literacy enables a person to be able to apply the skill in all areas of their life quickly and effectively. This is because the ability to think sensibly, through analyzing of a tone of information enables the decision to be concrete enough to advance better results. A good student in a class can grasp a lot of data from the tutor, after which they empower themselves through revision and research. During exams, the student can apply the literacy acquired from the tutor, through research and revision material to make a good grade. These are the best exam defined through the lenses of an educator (Hatlevik et al. 2018).

Finally, the benefit of information literacy is beneficial in raising the next generation. Parenting requires skills and adequate information on what to train and bring up a responsible child. Without proper knowledge about child development, a parent may end up failing in their role of being not only an example but a responsible parent. A parent trains; they do not have a parent. The need for a child is to know the right and wrong and know how to0 distinguish them even when presented in disguise. A teacher is a resource. If a teacher offers wrong or biased information in the classroom, the students learn the incorrect information as a right. The student is not illegal; their teacher is. Therefore, if the generation after us is to fail, it depends on us. Information literacy is essential to us all and access to the right information (Nord, 2019).
