Introduction

Gender identity is a phenomenon that, when raised carelessly in a contemporary world, would perhaps result in constant debate. The formation manifests itself at an early stage of one’s lifetime based on the subjective feeling of leaning towards baby-girls/ baby- boys. Boys would prefer to play with boys. Similarly, girls would play with girls, and so is the assigned tasks. Basing on the film   Zerophilia, the essay will explicitly discuss how each one is defined by gender and whether it shapes the way humans react in so many concepts. Later, the study will emphasize how different groups in the community view gender.

Gender definition

Human beings tend to belong to specific gender formation based on a personal realization of being either male or female. The concept is generally derived from the early stage of sex orientation by the community. The outward manifestation is probably seen from the behavior and the tasks they are assigned to perform. ‘Zerophilia’ is a film production released in October 2006 in North American which tried to explain ‘Zerophilia’ as a fictional condition affecting people who exhibit an extra “z” chromosome, which in turn causes abnormality in one’s genitals (Avery, 2012). For example, in the movie, Luke, a young lad who perhaps feels insecure about his gender and masculinity, starts to exhibit Zerophilia symptoms following an earlier encounter with an English woman. The incident triggers him to change his gender upon meeting Michelle. The partial transformation Luke undergoes is typically an illustration of how we tend to be stigmatized in terms of gender identification. From the play, it is evident that the extent to which one’s gender is defined is based on sexual organs that tend to drive the character of a person.

Impact of Gender-Humans Perspective.

In the modern world, gender tends to be a driving force behind how we view things, communicate, and ultimately arrive at decisions. According to the Zerophilia play, virginal Luke sees the English woman at the camp as a mysterious creature; consequently, he is thrown into an adolescent sexual desire (Martin, 2017).  For instance, Zerophilia is attracted to a gleeful and tremendous view of gender that seems elastic. At dawn, after dinner, a night of love and passion plays out as Luke looks at Michelle (Rebecca Mozo) breasts with desire. Moreover, upon being advised by Sydney- the doctor to sleep with Michelle, Luke realizes that he has morphed into being a female called “Luca” Clearly, gender shapes the way human beings see things, which is engineered by desire that culminates into action. Besides, communication plays a significant role in gender identity. The play alludes to the fact that Luka’s willingness to be transformed to the opposite gender is indeed made confidential between his best friends Keenan.  Later, the friend contacts Dr. Sydney, who advises Luke to go full transformation (Huskell, 2013). Here, we see information being exchanged between two persons of the same sex. However, the final decision is made by advice from the opposite gender.

Tasks are no longer a reservation of the male species. The gender balance is on the rise, especially in Northern America, since a person like Sydney- a female can afford to become a doctor regardless of her gender inclination (Hymowitz, 2012). Also, in the modern dispensation, women have taken the front seat in driving world economies. In her book –the end of men, Rosin asserts that the world is under matriarchy leadership (Rosin, 2012). She alleges that men’s rulership is on the brink of distinction since a modern woman is taking over every sector of the world economy. For example, Rosin argues that women are now in the position of their own money; they are employed and are to have the power to make decisive decisions. She points out that in 2009, women in America outnumbered their counterparts in terms of the workforce and degree rations in science courses (Kronz, 2016).

On the other hand, Rosins explains that men are victims of the recession being witnessed mostly in the manufacturing industries globally. She further argues that a majority of male American has adamantly refused to conform to this reality as most of them are now couch potatoes. They ought to be breadwinners.  Women in the US have taken advantage of the challenges in the economic sphere, and opportunistically used them to make a fortune. Indeed, gender helps in shaping the community’s views on the issues affecting them, and with relevant information, they are capable of making independent decisions. Besides, it is not merely decorative detail, like clothing; it permeates through our lifestyle. It detects one way of thinking, coupled with changes in the economies.

The impact of switching genders

If I were to switch genders for a brief period, my behaviors and reactions towards a particular environment would change. From the play, “Luca” finds himself in an unfamiliar environment. He is unable to transform back to Luke. Anxiety beckons, but Zerophilia keeps hope alive with the assurance of the reward gotten from his friends as opposed to having sex (Horney, 2018). One of his friends tells him that being a woman does not suggest that he is a lesser human being. The play narrates how Luke sleeps with Dr. Sydney, a move that does not go well with max (Michelle).later she admits that she was Michelle. The reunion does happen.  My gender transformation will depict that of “Luca,” full of fear and anxiety.

Furthermore, I will tend to act differently from my original being. For instance, in case I become a woman I will have difficulties in talking like them because of my broken voice. I will adjust my lifestyle to the extent of inclining female affairs regardless of their impact, just like Dr. Sydney.

Conclusion

Zerophilia film has introduced gender as a way of lifestyle depicted in the modern world. Indeed, gender, as it were, knows no male or female. The desires of both genders are the same, and one would go even go overboard to get them. Through communication, one can make decisions regardless of their inclination. However, when genders are switched, it becomes challenging to dispense some actions as the case of Luca.
