A Place of worship refers to a consecrated space or designed structure where a group of people or individuals performs the religious duties, devotions, and veneration. Various names are used to refer to the places of worship used by multiple religions; for instance, Temples, mosques, synagogues, and churches are all structures established as places of worship for different faiths. During my fieldwork, I visited the Newport Beach California Temple; the Temple is located in Orange County, California, in the US, it is 122nd sanctuary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Gordon B. Hinckley devoted the Temple after its announcement on April 21, 2001; it was dedicated on August 28, 2005. The essay is going to offer a detailed discussion about Newport Beach, California.
The Newport Beach California Beach is found near the nature preserve and the meetinghouse. The members of the Temple were taught the tenacity of the life and the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Temple undertakes various activities; for instance, it offers donations to the needy community and the poor living in the society (Bednar, p. 44). The church spends an enormous amount of money to provide donation to the poor; it spends about one billion dollars every year. The Temple offers support to over thirty thousand congregations, and educate over eight hundred and fifty thousand students in institutes and seminary. The New Beach California beach engages in the construction of the temples maintaining a total of one hundred and sixty-seven temples. The Temple encounters a total of one billion dollars per annum.
The Newport Beach California teaches its members about the existence of Jesus Christ; the members were informed about the good gospel about the existence of Jesus Christ (Walden-Hurtgen, p. 62). The temple entrance contained some of the images of Jesus Christ together with his apostles. The main aim of this image is to remind the worshipers about the significance of Jesus Christ towards the work of the Temple. Some of the images at the entrance of the Temple were used to indicate the location of the Temple, for instance, there was an image of the Orange tree to show the “Orange County” position of the Temple.
The worshipers attended the Temple for common prayer on the seventh day of the week. They claimed that they followed the footsteps of the Jesus Christ, the worshipers stated that Jesus worked for the six days and rested on the seventh day, and hence they as the followers of the Christ believed that they should work for the six days of the week and then set aside the seventh day to praise and worship the God (Bednar, p. 44). The Temple taught the worshippers that since faith should bear fruits, the Temple taught its worshippers that having faith in God impacts significantly towards their behaviors, choices, and attitudes. The New Beach California Temple encourages its members to emulate the life of Christ and live according to the Ten Commandments. The Temple did not have any images and statues; the worship space in the Temple was characterized by the aesthetic.
In conclusion, the worshippers in the New Beach California conducted their prayers following a specified schedule. One of the things that impressed me most about their mode of worship was how they took excellent care of the prayer hall. They always made sure that the place was clean and never adorned the walls of the Temple did not have the ritual objects. I also liked their hospitality; they were welcomed with great pleasure despite that I was from a different religious background. The worshippers had a specific mode of dressing, which made it easier to identify; they put on decent clothes. The Temple also committed itself to help the needy and the less fortunate in society.
