Future impact and contribution to nursing history

Future impact on nursing history

Becoming a nurse is something I admired though it has always not been an easy thing to become a fully qualified and professional nurse. Engaging Mr. Robinson was very crucial in my career. Despite the challenges faced during this career path, I also learned that there are additional qualifications apart from academics that come along with being a nurse. Merely passing your exams is not enough for this career. It takes a proper mindset and way of thinking to be a competent nurse. This lesson changed my way of thinking, and I positively realized some of the factors that this career demands. It made a start thinking like a nurse.

This interview made me realize that nurses should trust their judgment. According to Robinson, he faced the challenge of assigning duties to fellow nurses. In response, he decided to follow his heart and do the assigning. The result of this was always remarkable. When we are in a patient encounter, we always go deep in our heads and get caught up in the knowledge that will ever forget that we have a patient. This is where individual judgment comes in. Building such trust in oneself and then fostering it on my patient not only comes with treating various conditions but also with proper communication with patients, getting information about them, and believing that the judgment to be issued will be right..

Mr. Robinson’s contributions and accomplishments also prepared me to examine the outside factors when examining a patient. This is a skill he learned along with his career and proved to be useful and ethical in the nursing career. Considering this, I agree with Vallano when she says that having the foresight to consider external factors that may be crucial in a patient’s sickness and condition can only be learned over time ( Vallano, 2011). As a student, I realized that when I graduate from medical school, I knew to assist me in getting started and that I would more over time. As a nurse, what you lack is a context, and that is what you will get from the patients. During my profession, I would gain this context by paying attention to my patients’ explanations and addressing them accordingly, considering all possible factors.

The last significant impact this interview had on my particular profession as a nurse was preparing me to know that experienced and competent know that there is no always the right answer. I will see the patients be the first puzzles after memorizing different diagrams and various textbooks. I will always strive to provide and develop dynamic approaches to solve different cases in the hospital. I will ever know that the patients and their treatments are not necessarily one-size-fits-all and, therefore, will come up with a track record of previous patients with similar illnesses to help me as a reference.

Contribution to nursing history

As an upcoming nurse, I am always actively involved in leadership mentorships to fresh students every year. Like a nurse, I believe that leadership is very crucial in every profession. Leaders should understand their subjects (patients) and give the best services possible. Therefore in my session with the nurses, I always pass on some of the leadership skills I have learned so far in this career to both my fellow peers and fresh students.

As a student in a medical school, I share my achievements and the impacts I have had in the nursing practice. By sharing this, I have motivated most nurses and helped them overcome some of the challenges experienced in this career. I have always believed in Meleis when he says that by sharing how you have contributed, you show that you possess the initiative and skills to bring a positive impact in the future ( Meleis, 2007).
