Science fiction

Science fiction has disputed many religious and cultural practices across the globe throughout its history. The history of science fiction dates back to the period when electricity was invented. Its development has seen three essential stages. The first stage was the romantic, which began early 19th century, the new phase that was there between 1945 and 1996, and the current postmodern stage, which has been there since 1996. Throughout these stages, science fiction has seen significant advancement, especially with the advancement in technology. However, one thing has remained constant: Science fiction has disputed numerous religious and cultural preferences of many people across the globe.

In response to the arrival of electricity, many autopsies emerged throughout Europe. Mary Wollstonecraft was one of the earliest authors of science fiction courtesy of her Frankenstein novel. In the book, she attempted how a human being can create other human beings through the use of electricity. The story contradicts the fact that only God can create, something that is widely accepted across cultures. Frankenstein’s story made many people beginning practicing body-snatching where they had to dig out buried bodies and take them to labs for experiments. These acts contradict the moral values of many cultures and religious preferences.

The story of Frankenstein prompted the development of mad-scientist projects throughout the world. Mad-scientist is a form of stereotypes that involve imagining extreme science practices involving the creation of human beings and robots. Over the years, these have seen enormous improvement, and in the late 1990s, there was a significant increase in robot ships such as terminator.

Terminator came with significant opposition to religion, as it had a specific character to represent Jesus Christ. In the series, there is a character called John Canor, who is considered to be Jesus Christ. Comparing Jesus in such a robot ship scenario is a big blow to the Christian community. It is also a violation of many cultural practices, considering the comparison of robots to humans, and taking them to be more intelligent and performing better than humans.

The aftermath of world war II also prompted the development of the modern period, where numerous techniques have emerged to imitate the magnitude of the atomic bombs that were used. The case of Hiroshima and Nagasaki has prompted many people to come up with science fiction themes such as the Godzilla and other technologies, all of which are assumed to use atomic energy.

The postmodern science fiction has developed to include animals that wipe the entire world. Such include the use of bacteria to consume the whole population. It is nonsensical to present such themes to a pious society that has a strong belief in God.

The evolution of science fiction has opposed many cultural and religious values across the globe. It has developed imaginations that seek to oppose the creation and to show that some thinks may have the capabilities of destroying the world forever.
