Greg Blatt: A Midas Touch

Greg Blatt is an American industry executive and the former CEO and Chairman of Match Group. Blatt has held executive roles in various companies, including Match Group, Tinder, IAC, and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc.
Mr. Blatt received his Bachelor’s Degree in English language, literature, and economics from Colgate University. He spent the next two years traveling while working odd jobs such as bartending and painting houses. He then went on to attend the Colombia University Law School, where he earned a Jurors Doctor degree.
Shortly after, he took up a job as an associate at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, a prestigious law firm in New York. After working for some time at the firm, Mr. Blatt decided to transition from corporate law to entertainment law. This saw him join Grubman Indursky & Schindler PC, serving as an associate.
Blatt’s trajectory of success continued as he entered Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. Executive Vice President in Business Affairs, General Counsel, and Secretary are some of the roles he held at the company at various times. In this capacity, he oversaw the company’s legal and transaction activities.
In 2003, Blatt accepted a position as General Counsel at IAC. After five years in the post, he was offered the chance to be CEO of Match.com, a small side business of IAC. Over the coming years, Blatt would serve as CEO of Match, IAC, Match Group, and Tinder. He would also serve as the executive chairman of Match Group and Tinder. Under his leadership, Match Group experienced a five-fold increase in the number of users, and brands such as Tinder became synonymous with online dating.
