compare and contrast living rich versus living poor

The world thrives on the economic differences that exist. On the one hand, there is the high-class group that affords the most beautiful things in life; quality houses, cars and clothing, the best education, sufficient food, and access to quality health care. More than twenty-four non-communist states are bearing eight hundred million people that get to enjoy high living standards. On the other hand, is a group of people who survive day to mouth, from about one hundred underdeveloped low-income states that harbor more than two billion citizens. On one day they are lucky enough to have a meal, only to go hungry for the next two days. Classy clothes are the least of their worries; they just put on anything that covers their nakedness. This class of people has nothing that they can call their own. Such is the nature of life. The imbalance is almost inevitable, and it has been there since the beginning of time. Global wealth may be at its peak, but the distribution is quite unequal. In this study, I intend to compare and contrast living rich versus living poor, which will answer the question, “Why do rich people get richer, while poor people become poorer?”.

The first significant difference that depicts itself between poor people and rich people is their attitude towards life. In this complicated world that we live in, there is a lot to be cynical about. The rich seem to have figured that the negativity path never achieves any good. Positive characters work to change what they don’t like instead of making complaints all the time. One way of harnessing positivity is by the art of self-affirmation. Rich people envision what they desire and talk like it has already been achieved. The affirmations turn into self-fulfilling prophecy(Shukla 1873). Most poor people are always complaining about world occurrences, careers, families, and whatever else they can afford to complain about. The complaints are mainly for other people to hear them; it is never about taking action in discovering a solution to their poverty state.

The second reason why the rich seem to be getting more productive is that they are committed to maintaining a wealthy lifestyle. Most rich people have acquired their wealth from significant commitment. They do not just stumble into piles of money from nowhere. It is a process that needs intense commitment; to get advanced education, work long hours to propel their career, taking financial risks and patience within the years of building a successful business(Taylor & Lybbert 94) Most people only dream of winning the lottery or some other crazy fantasy. They are not willing to step up and do whatever it takes to climb the economic status ladder. They prefer to entertain themselves with novels and movies, rather than assuming that time to learn and do constructive activities to raise their wealth status.

The third difference that emerges in the lifestyle of the rich against the poor is the fact that rich people prefer to take challenges head-on. They are barely afraid to handle difficult obstacles, especially if they see the potential for a rewarding payoff. They view challenges as an opportunity for growth and success. Poor people, on the other hand, tend to escape their problems. They like to stay in a comfort zone and not to do anything to improve their lives unless they are pushed. It is somewhat a sign of hopelessness because most of these people have lost hope in the dream that they will be able to get to some off these levels of wealth.

The fourth factor that comes out as different and inspiration for middle classed youths, is that rich people always choose both. Through multiple choices, wealthy persons like to make their bed and lie in it. They understand that choosing both options means they will have more or double results. Poor people, when faced with either/or situations, rush to make one choice, and most of the time, it is the easiest(Harmon 19). They do not analyze the impact that could come with going for both options.

As much as the mindsets of these two economic classes are the background for the stagnant wealth acquisition, there is more to the story. The world has already created an environment that is survivable by wealthy people. Everything seems to work in their favor from health facility care to academic institutions(Lipton 1701). There is also the fact that some poor people are barred by their environmental and background incapabilities. Some people have a significant will to get out of their miserable life, but they lack a starting step and a push factor. In the example of a person who lives in an arid area with almost no access to city life, they are surrounded by an environment that cannot accommodate growth.

In conclusion, the issue of economic imbalance in society is a delicate one. Rich people view the poor as unfocused merely because they are not making an effort to improve their lives. Poor people are too busy trying to find the next meal to be thinking about how they can create a million-dollar business. The situation cannot be blamed on anybody. Everyone is born into the position that they are born into; others get lucky and receive an opportunity to reverse their situation.

All in all, it is essential for society to embrace everyone as they are, whether rich or poor. People from low economic backgrounds who can improve themselves should grab on the opportunity. Wealthy people should give poor people a shot wherever they can, whether its a minute job or any form of assistance. The society needs to create some harmony with each other to at least ensure everyone survives.
