For a centralized surveillance system in the smart city, it is very much essential to install Close Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV cameras). CCTV cameras would enable the police to monitor activities inside the city more efficiently by allowing them to monitor various areas of the city at the same time by providing real-time footage. This would also reduce crimes and control it so that the city remains crime-free.  Also, it would help the traffic authority to monitor traffic congestions and take necessary measures (Hazra, Choudhury & Chattopadhyay, 2017).

The image quality of the cameras should be optimized for high resolution, and they should be workable under low lights and extreme weather conditions. Zooming feature should be available on the cameras so that an image can be enhanced and seen with a close-up angle. The footages should be saved in servers so that it could be viewed again in case it is required to do so. This would also help the authorities in performing maintenance works since any unmaintained amenities within the city (like bridges, roads, and others) could be seen and recorded.

Additional benefits of WMA in smart cities

A smart city requires advanced technological innovations. For these, appropriate research should be conducted using WMA. Furthermore, necessary updates should be done from time to time so that the governing technology remains up to date. Using an EMA workbench also provides the scope for the planner to find out about any other processes which could be implemented in the smart city. A background check could be conducted on citizens and officials if needed using the WMA model.
