Exploring hidden gems at Ladakh monasteries
Overview – Plan your Ladakh tour to visit the monasteries and stroll around in the local market. Explore the hidden gems of the beautiful plane and make perfect plans. This shall help ensure that you do not miss out on the renowned places.
DAY 1
After arriving at Leh airport, you will be taken to the booked hotel. Relax for some time and stroll around in the local market for the rest of the time. You can also visit Likir village and go to LIKIR GOMPA, which is just 60 kilometers from Leh. Hotels are booked for an overnight stay at Leh hotel.
DAY 2
Second day starts with the excursion to the famous ancient Lamayuru Moonland which is 120 kilometers round trip back to Leh hotel. With excellent surrounding landscape, Ladakh gets its name from this famous monastery. From here, you can head towards the Rizong monastery and visit Chulichan nunnery. On this day, come back to likir and stay overnight. The Ridzong gompa is known to the oldest monastery to explore its beauty in Ladakh.
DAY 3
On the third day, come back to Leh via Alchi, where you can witness the 1000 years old Alchi village. In the late afternoon, you can drive back to Leh and visit the Confluence of Zanskar and Indus, Basgo Fort, Magnetic Hill along with Spituk Monastery. The Spituk Gompa is just 8 kilometers from Leh, and the place is worth visiting for its excellent panoramic view.
DAY 4
On the fourth day, drive to Pangong Lake from Leh to visit Shey Palace and Gompa. If you are planning to visit Pangong Lake, you are sure to love the view of Shey and Thikse.
DAY 5
On the fifth day, it is time to drive back to Leh from Pangong. On the way back, you can visit Thiksey Monastery. After arriving at the hotel, spend some free time exploring the local market.
DAY 6
Early morning, you can start to travel to Nubra valley from Leh. After some sightseeing in and around Nubra Valley, try to return on the same day to Leh.
DAY 7
If you have some time left till the afternoon, you can go out to the local market. With this, it is time to head towards Leh airport for your way back home destination.
