 biblical worldview

The term biblical worldview can be summarized as the way human beings look at life. This is the way people perceive life both from the Christian or biblical point of view or in the humanitarian view, depending on their faith and cultural believes and norms. It is evidenced that everyone has his way of thinking about the origin of life and the supernatural creatures like mountains, rivers, and others, thus depending on their faith since most of the people try to explain life in science form as others use the biblical view. Therefore, it depends on the individual’s faith.

One’s worldview can be formed and controlled by one of the following factors that culture, education, religious beliefs, emotions, and the bible. A good number believes the bible of that God wrote it, so they choose to believe in it while others are bound to their cultural practices and beliefs.

Based on the differences in the worldviews, the key four questions which have been frequently asked to explain or find the best understanding of the worldviews are mentioned as follows;

  • Is God the creator of the world and rules the universe?
  • What is the origin of mankind?
  • Is life after death real?
  • Does God exist

The above mentioned key questions in explaining and understanding of the worldviews have been closely linked to the views like Christ-centered, bible-based, humanistic, Australian indigenous, and others.

Christ-centered, bible-based

The Christ-centered worldviews are closely linked to Christianity. Thus the way Christians believe in the existence of God and the origin of humans. Christianity is a comprehensive and the way of life that grows out of Christian’s reflection on the bible teachings and guidance and the plans. God’s revels in the scriptures written the prophets of the Lords.

Based on the big four questions, the Christ-centered worldview believes in the existence of God and life after death, as specified in the bible. They always get their answers to the big four questions from reading the bible as they believe the bible is the solution for every question or problem the world might be currently undergoing. Following the story of creation thus, according to the bible, book of Genesis, a man was created on the sixth day hence giving the question on the origin of mankind. The book also explains or accounts for the origin of supernatural things on earth as it gives the creation story from day one to the sixth day when a man was created.

Humanistic view

Humanistic believes in human dignity and science; therefore is outlaws the four key questions of human origin, the existence of God, life after death, and the issue of supernatural beings. The humanistic beliefs in science and, in most cases, applies scientific theories and views in explaining the big four questions. For instance, the humanistic belief in the evolution theory of man where a man was once an ape-like creature and later evolved to the upright man. The humanistic base their arguments concerning the big four questions on science inventions and discoveries theory have no relation with the non-scientific theories like the bible centered view.

Humanistic does not believe in life after death but rather believes that once one dies, it will rot and decompose, therefore adding fertility to the soil, and that will be the end of its existence. Since the existence of God cannot be explained scientifically, humanistic does not account for the existence of God but rather accounts for the development of creatures like mountains and rivers using geographical theories.

Humanistic have been using their scientific developments and technologies in solving human problems due to believes in human dignity and science.

World problems like tsunami, volcanoes, and diseases are being handled from the science point of view as compared to the bible centered view where prayers form part of the solutions to human problems like diseases.

Australian indigenous view

The Australian indigenous worldview is rooted in the cultural practices and beliefs where most of the people believed in traditional norms and practices in answering the big four questions. Indigenous cultures are believed to survive around the globe in communities that are defined by environmental factors rather than geopolitical boundaries. The Australian indigenous view has various principles which guide the activities and way of life within the community. For instance, the seventh generation principle, respect, tolerance, and humility principles are the core values of the indigenous view.

Based on the big four questions, indigenous people believe in life after death and believe in the presence of God through other gods that could connect them to God in times of calamities. They never believed in the bible as the Christ-centered view; rather, they practiced their religion in which they worshipped their gods by offerings and prayers to them.

Naturalism view

Naturalism view believes in non-existence other than the physical universe, which they can see. The view contradicts every view by not believing in the existence of God, life after death, bible, and origin of mankind. Most of the naturalistic never believed in God neither life after death since they cannot see, and no one has ever met God or experienced life after death to confirm for them; hence they view it as just a theory that intends top create fears to people. They believe in science and technology as their theories and solutions are evidenced and can be seen, unlike other theories. Such people are the atheists who do not go to church or have any religion or culture due to their strong belief of non-existence other than the universe.

They are ever trying to figure out the reality in the existence of the world through scientific inventions. Their view on the big four questions is linked to their scientist inventions like they origin of mankind; they believe in biological means of procreation through fertilization and omits the theory of creation as believed by the Christians.

Critical reflection

To reflect on the four identified worldviews, thus, concerning the big four questions on life, Christ-centered worldviews stand the best views among the four, thus following my worldview as I believe in Christianity and the existence of God. The humanistic and the naturalism theory are both playing an important role in human life due to their scientific views.

The Australian indigenous view has been affected by the political factors, thus following political influence in their cultural activities. Education and civilization hs also impacts the cultural believes and norms of individuals and the community as a whole. Therefore, the four discussed worldviews differ based on the individual’s beliefs and take on life.

Conclusion

Personally, my worldview approach aligns with the Christi- centered, biblically-based, thus following my religion, which supports the existence of God and believes in the words and teaching of the bible. I believe that the bible was written by God through His prophets to guide mankind in their relations with each other and with God by clearly defining the Ten Commandments and other rules that we as Christians should follow to inherit the kingdom of God.

Life after death, thus, is God promised eternal life to the righteous people as a reward to those who kept His promise. It is the life after death, where one will live again in the presence of God in heaven. The origin of mankind is clearly stated in the book of Genesis that God created man and orders him to multiply and fill the earth; therefore, as a Christian, I believe in the creation as work of God since I am a strong believer in Christ-centered view.
