Becoming a Leader
Leadership
An ordained minister and Bahamian Evangelist, Dr. Myles Munroe, defined leadership as the ability to effectively influence other people through inspirations motivated by vision, passion, and conviction rekindled by a specific purpose. Dr. Munroe further explained this definition of leadership bears truth to human being’s creation. God created humankind and provided every human being necessities to complete the overall purpose of His work. Noting from the bible, the book of genesis got referenced by Dr. Munroe, whereby it talks about human beings possessing dominions over the earth. This particular text stated above explains that all human beings bear the capabilities of possessing leadership qualities since they said they were created to occupy and take charge of the earth since the beginning, as taught by Dr. Munroe. From this particular perspective, it is in human nature to dominate and lead the environment, as concluded by Dr. Munroe.
Additionally, the analogy of manufacturers and their products often got discussed by Dr. Munroe. He explained the analogy whereby the products were designed with correct components that made it easier for operation in the best way as desired by the manufacturer. In comparison, the manufacture becomes the leader, and the vision is viewed as the product. Most importantly, the leader’s vision generates the outcome. Strategically, the leader inspires and places the followers or components to produce an image through inspiration and motivation. Dr. Munroe’s analogy about the product and manufacturer explained the meaningful relationship a follower and the leader should have for the effective production of excellent results (Monroe, 2008).. How Does a Shared Vision Get Inspired by a Leader?
Dr. Munroe shared multiple views based on leadership. He has exemplified exceptional findings of what a leader should portray.
Leadership abilities rely upon or need two essential components (Monroe, 2008). The first component is an inspiration, whereby the second component is a shared vision. The stated parts work together to generate success in a leader effectively. Followers receive help from leaders whereby they can see what the future holds, and they get a precise understanding of what will be accomplished in the future. The visions of Dr. Munroe are understood clearly through seminars, books, videos, podcasts, and multiple spiritual-based sermons. However, an astounding quality of leadership seen in Dr. Munroe was based on the connection exhibited by multicultural followers. Regardless of various audiences, the promoted and taught vision by Dr. Munroe motivated and strongly spoke to the followers to effectively shadow and copy his wisdom. Not only were the teachings of Dr. Munroe shared widely and openly, but they were also very inspirational (Monroe, 2008).
The inspiration developed since his followers understood Dr. Munroe’s vision and his character. The characteristics of leadership were embodied significantly through Dr. Munroe and got encouraged effectively. The multiple views shown by Dr. Munroe got valued a lot even after he died, his wisdom and visions are taught to date.
Opportunities that are worth risking
A shared state of vision got inspired by Dr. Munroe through those individuals who were around, whereby they properly exemplified what was preached and taught. Moreover, the progression of Dr. Munroe’s knowledge was evident throughout his teachings. Dr. Munroe quoted, “The principal thing is wisdom; therefore, we should acquire wisdom and everything that we are getting, we should get a proper understanding,” as per the book of proverbs quoted from the bible chapters. Mostly, Dr. Munroe was trying to convey that without understanding, wisdom, and knowledge, it will be an everyday detriment on living. This particular view was among the many opinions that got positively accepted (Monroe, 2008).
However, he shared teachings and views that were not accepted in some way. Various aspects that focused on lessons based on a husband’s duty to a woman and same-sex marriages often were debated. Dr. Munroe stood firm on his ground. He never questioned his research or teachings. As a smart leader, standing firm on your views and taking risks is necessary and very essential to maintain proper effectiveness when pursuing a vision. Dr. Munroe explained that whenever a leader cannot support and defends his or her views that got shared, the lack of support eventually affects the trust of followers based on the leading expertise of the leader(Monroe, 2008).
Although Dr. Myles’s general view on same-sex marriages and duties of a husband to women got deemed as controversial, he continued to promote and teach these views by using supporting documents and personal research.
How Does a Good Leader Empower or Enables Others?
Empowerment gets primarily focused on sharing power with junior employees to serve followers properly. A good leader empowers other individuals when he or she promotes followers’ tools that enable them to think creatively and attain full potential. Empowerment also brings self-awareness based on what should get effectively done for the success of followers. Dr. Munroe created continuous developments through multiple conferences held in different organizations globally. Dr. Myles was not only a businessman, mentor, spiritual leader, and author, and he also wanted others to be successful in life and hold the keys to success. Conferences were many among the tools granted to Dr. Munroe’s followers (Monroe, 2008).
Dr. Munroe authored thirty-eight books based on different issues in life, such as family relationships, finance, sex, and spiritual development. These publications had over sixteen best booksellers credited to Dr. Munroe translated to Spanish, Portuguese, and English. The most encouraging analogy that had great empowerment was a question posed by Dr. Munroe based on leadership attitudes. The problem was, “What runs through the mind of a lion when he spots an elephant?” However, the best answer to the posed question was “lunch meal.” Dr. Munroe explained that even though the elephant seems more significant as compared to the lion, the lion’s attitude of carrying itself intimidated the elephant. Those simple analogies and very empowering get understood on every comprehension level, whereby they give people empowerment and the desire to listen more to Dr. Munroe’s teachings.
How Leaders Recognize the Contribution of Other Individuals
Focusing additionally on supplying direction and a shared vision, strong binding relationships are supposed to exist between people and their leaders. From a personal approach, Dr. Munroe’s awareness of follower’s contribution was the best gesture ever made by a leader. He not only taught about wisdom, understanding, and knowledge but also executed proper teachings after he was gone. His shared vision gets effectively implemented and passed on. An impressive gesture about Dr. Munroe is the fact that two weeks before he died, he spoke, focusing on death in a live show in Kenya. “I am in love with the phrase, ‘it’s finished!’ I want to die because there is nothing left in this world that I can do. I have accomplished everything I am destined to do right from birth,” these were words spoken by Dr. Munroe as he addressed Jeff Koinange, a host in a local TV show in Kenya.
The above text concluded everything taught by Dr. Munroe throughout his professional career. He explained about “dying empty,” meaning an individual should never die without accomplishing what he was destined to do right from birth. Furthermore, all shared knowledge and wisdom in Dr. Munroe’s cases were taught nationally so that other individuals can become successful and accomplish their life duties as executed fully by Dr. Munroe. As soon as Dr. Munroe died, he was considered empty (Monroe, 2008). The death of this particular author was an indication that his successors empowered through the teachings were in a better position to continue Dr. Munroe’s legacy by spreading knowledge and wisdom. The spread of knowledge and understanding would be made effective since these successors studied the education of Dr. Munroe. What proper recognition surpasses “The student has transformed to become the teacher” kind of approach?
How Does a Good Leader Develop Community Spirit?
Additionally, during the teachings of Dr. Munroe, special operation and articulation of values from the bible were the primary foundations for the majority of his organizations. The service and unification created trust-based aspects from follower’s points of view, a Christian follower to be more specific. With such an essential foundation, the apparent direction was established, and legitimate purposes inspired the majority of the followers. These followers were inspired to become better both inside and outside, impacting the community as a collective unit.
However, when performing a proper analysis of various organizations linked to Dr. Munroe, it is sufficiently evident that every individual was on the right side or page, and they are working to achieve a common purpose. The obtained evidence bears credibility and is prominent because even after the absence of Dr. Munroe, other subordinate leaders continue to effectively convey essential pieces of information that would be passed by Dr. Munroe. Similarly, the trust imposed by Dr. Munroe towards his subordinate leaders is an accurate indication that Dr. Munroe highly valued all the leader’s strengths and inputs. His belief in subordinate leaders also showed that Dr. Munroe allowed these leaders to work on their weaknesses. However, it is acknowledged by Dr. Munroe that the skills of leadership taught got effectively implemented among the subordinate leaders and all followers who supported the overall vision (Monroe, 2008).
Furthermore, Dr. Munroe’s views on leadership start with an individual discovering their purpose in life. He argues out that an individual should understand the main reason or purpose of why they got born. A good leader gets convicted through their use in life. Dr. Munroe explains further that once an individual discovers their purpose in life, they should get sentenced by the same purpose and generate self-drive. A good leader develops a sense of having a vision that comes with great deeds whereby a leader should develop a preferred future. It is a crucial step when someone develops an essential state of the future that sees them become more successful based on their leadership skills. Finally, a good leader should inspire others when he or she develops a proper mentality that gets focused on serving people in the community. A leader should inspire and motivate other people effectively. Throughout the overall inspiration and motivation, a leader will have the ability to influence individuals, and they, in turn, call him or her a leader.
Dr. Munroe is a true definition of a good leader. He portrayed a great sense focused on the idea of empowering others to become better leaders. It took Dr. Munroe a record forty years focusing on research, teaching, and personal interactions with other leaders. He came up with his definition based on leadership since other individuals had massive confusion about leadership, titles and positions. However, he had a strong belief that everything concerned with direction falls and rises again. According to Dr. Munroe, leadership was the most ultimate thing (Monroe, 2008).
