The purpose of this executive brief paper is to identify how informatics can be incorporated into health promotion programs. Today our society uses technology, gaming and social media as a means to communicate and relate to one another. Numerous technological programs have been developed to target health promotion and disease prevention. In our contemporary Nursing practice we are challenged to tailor our educational programs to meet the demands of our technological society. We need to create culturally competent health promotion programs which are effective, timely, and reach the target audience. This project encourages you to identify a population of interest in your work site, or in your community, and begin to plan a program which proactively affects healthcare outcomes. For purposes of this paper you will not be required to enact the actual project, yet, research, plan, create, and outline the steps to completion. In the course webliography, and your textbooks you will find a vast array of organizations committed to providing health education tools for the practitioner, including technological interactive programs to promote healthy outcomes. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing recommends incorporating informatics in Masters level nursing programs to promote best contemporary practices.
