Learning Plan
Step 1: Self Reflection
Self-Reflection
(Reflect on current clinical practice. Describe experiences, events or change in your practise or practice setting that was significant to you. What happened and what was your role. Why was this a strength or learning need? ) | Areas of Strength | Learning Needs |
(Include Examples) | (Include Examples)
1. CommunicationDon't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/pageGiven my human resource education background and my fluency in English. I can communicate efficiently with patients. What is more, I can effectively exchange clinical ideas, feedback or opinions with regards to the goals. | 1. Teamwork I work best when I am alone, and I can successfully deliver at an individual level. It is because I am antisocial, and I get easily distracted in the presence of workmates. Secondly, teamwork in my area of expertise gives me a competitive threat.

2. Strong work ethic Based on discipline and hard work, I can strictly follow individually set goals and values. Additionally, I consistently stay motivated, consistently focused on finishing my tasks on time. What is more, I follow the rules and always stay healthy. | 2. Flexibility I can efficiently respond to changes in my area of expertise. But I cannot extend my efforts to a different department, especially with rapidly changing circumstances. In other words, I can hardly change direction or adapt to the evolving forces.
3. Leadership Given my previous experience as a clinical leader. I can easily encourage a group of people towards a common goal by carrying out my roles and responsibilities appropriately. Also, I can successfully coordinate patients, family members and the medical team. | 3. Work under pressure I do not enjoy working under extensive pressure; especially, unplanned short deadlines and impromptu schedules. What is more, I panic and get stressed up when I have a supervisor over my shoulder, putting pressure on me consistently. |
Step 2: Peer Feedback
Peer Feedback
(Obtain feedback from a peer in your clinical group. Ask for three examples of your strengths and three areas they feel you need to continue to learn and why.)

PART B: Learning Plan
List 3 goals that you can work on in clinical over the remainder of the term |
1. Carry out satisfactory physical assessments (Auscultation) |
2. Timely preparation and work delivery |
3. Efficient information collection on Meditech |
Now, take two of these goals and create a plan. Fill in the templates below.
Goal 1:
This goal is for QA Year: | Winter 2020 – Year 1 | Date Created:
Goal: What do you want to learn or achieve? (Must be SMART) | Which CNO practice document does this goal relate to?
I want to learn auscultation: the physical examination technique for the lungs and abdomen to able to identify patients with complications and treat them.
| The practice of cardiac auscultation | |||||

Activities and Time Frame to Achieve My Goal | Resources and Strategies (List at least 2 for each Activity)
1. I want to learn basic and complex heart movement patterns concerning the blood pressure
| 1. I am learning from online Auscultation videos on heart movement patterns. I am visiting patients who are undergoing a physical examination technique.
| |||||
2. Then I individually master cardiac auscultation by evaluating the respective auditory features and echo findings of specific heart sounds.
| 2. Practising master cardiac auscultation and then evaluating the outcome for conclusions. | |||||
3. To learn and understand all the medical terminologies that are associated with auscultation
| 3. Researching online and finding all the terminologies that are related to auscultation. Reading hospital reports on cardiac auscultation | |||||
4. Ability to observe heart murmur to understand the precise sound of blood flow turbulence within all the arteries in the heart
| 4. Reading heart murmur books from the hospital library Consulting a Physician just to get the perspective of a professional. | |||||
Evaluation Strategies – How will I know that I have met my goals? |
1. Once I can observe heart murmur and recognize blood flow turbulence in the heart. 2. Once I can explain all the terminologies that are related to auscultation. 3. Individual performance of cardiac auscultation through sensory evaluation and echo findings of specific heart sounds. 4. Understanding all the necessary and intricate heart movement patterns and blood pressure

PART C – Learning Plan Evaluation
My first goal was to understand auscultation: the physical examination technique for the lungs and abdomen to able to identify patients with complications and treat them. I achieved this goal through learning from online auscultation videos on heart movement patterns. Secondly, I visited patients who were undergoing the physical examination technique. What is more, I read heart murmur books from the hospital library and consulted with professional physicians to get their perspectives.
Regarding my second goal to understand the Meditech software, I checked the Meditech portal to learn its purpose and core objectives. Secondly, I Analyzed data exchange between public healthcare agencies and compared performance difference between hospital with Meditech and the ones without the software. Lastly, I evaluated the technological functionality of Meditech by consulting physicians who use Meditech regularly. Thanks to all the participants, these two goals were successful.
Apart from the goals in this project, my future core objective is to find out the most effective techniques that can be useful to enhance chest auscultation in medical simulation. More specifically, the capability to use an acoustic stethoscope to indicate heart sounds, thus efficient interpretation by physicians and medical professionals. Due to the growing importance of medical simulation in clinical practice education, high-quality heart patterns and sounds will indicate vital signs and accurate blood pressure imaging (CRACOVIENSIA, 2014). Besides, digital auditory technology combined with high-fidelity simulators increases accuracy and learning opportunities.
