National Association for the Education of Young Children
NAEYC stands for the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The main reason for the formation or enactment of NAEYC was to advance the excellence of the learning or education curricula for young learners or children. It will set the vision to ensure high-quality education is provided by engaging the right tools, techniques, and learning resources. Besides, NAEYC outlines standards that will help not only the children but also families and the entire public or community as a whole. NAEYC set six quality standards which include:
- Teaching
The program is vital because it is where teachers will provide instructions and guidelines to children. To achieve this, it is either through indoors or outdoors activities. Children will get knowledge and know-how through this program, where it is well planned, organized, coordinated hand monitored regularly.
- Health
Teacher’s and children’s health is essential for it to will reduces illness and injuries that disrupt their learning. They should teach how to maintain cleanliness and how to avoid injuries and calamities.
iii. Relationships
Relationship program should inculcate helpful connections between the children and parents. The parents should understand that this will help the child to function well in the community, develop a sense of responsibility, respect parents, and take personal responsibility to develop. Furthermore, it should be able to guide the teachers, managers, and children to maximize their development and growth.
- Assessment of the child academic growth
For children to be known whether they have understood what they learn, they need regular assessment. The evaluation will help the teachers and parents know whether there is a gradual growth in the learning process. It is demonstrated by administering examinations and other forms of assessment where teachers will support and supervise.
- Curriculum
The program helps in enhancing their development in which it is consistent following the set goals, hence; promoting his cognitive, physical, and social wellbeing. It should be well organized
- Staff competencies, research, and support
The success of the learners will depend on the skills, qualifications, experiences, and professionalism. With qualified teachers, they will be able to impart knowledge and morals to the children adequately.

In conclusion, though the NAEYC standards seem excellent, it has shortcomings that other aspects of life not captured, i.e., religion and culture. These aspects are vital for their growth. Focusing on academics alone will lead to crazy life in dealing with other life challenges such as politics, socio-cultural issues, and economic matters.
