Self-Assessment Activities
Self-assessment describes the process of estimating and determining the value of something and making an instrumental judgment on issues. Many scholars alternate the term self-assessment with words such as examination, investigation, evaluation, among others. Self-assessment help in examining and discovering personal abilities and how much progress one has made in their lives. It applies to various aspects of one’s abilities including career development, project progress, learning progress, among others by helping illuminate one’s strengths, weaknesses and recommending a self-diagnosis relevant to the weakness or challenges. Reasons for engaging in self-assessment activities is to enable one to understand the extent of their abilities and mechanisms to improve without involving supervision and outside appraisers. Web development is one of the most rapidly developing and attractive sectors across the world. For instance, in marketing, web development is instrumental in helping business entities make a presence online and deliver the business’ exact marketing message, branding, and content as communicating the mission, importance, sprit, and uniqueness of the organization (Andrade, & Valtcheva, 2009. 21). to be an indestructible web design developer, one needs to reflect vital skills encompassing analytical, self-reflective, and evaluative activities. I will explore the three different self-assessment activities include analytical, self-reflective, and evaluative activities.
The analytical skills are instrumental to accurately reflect the ability of a web developer and the extent of progress to web development as a career. The assessment target to reveal different analytical abilities. The assessment was instrumental in depicting the analytical thinking and outlining the critical thing ability that is vital components in promoting the web development process and activities. Information is vital in making the right decisions regarding personal career development and executing responsibilities as a web developer in this case. The self-assessment test help to show that a web developer needs to have an analytical mindset.
Analytical skills are based on the ability to collect and analyze information that is instrumental in problem-solving and decision making. Developing a career in web development requires an individual to align with the analytical abilities in gathering data and analyzing it to make informed decisions. Thinking and reasoning analytically is a skill that is gained with hands-on work rather than classroom learning. The practical approach reflects the nature and the requirements of the web development job market. The self-assessment is valuable in revealing the thinking and analytical capability of the individual, which influences career choices, development and growth. A web developer should have a good system-level thinking ability and skills to promote meticulous eye on detail. Examples of analytical skills for a web developer encompass system thinking, problem identification, organizational knowledge, problem analysis, and solving abilities. I have made progress in problem-solving skills using analytical activities to develop a marketing website and using the analytical tools to improve the brand name of the website and the products to attract optimal traffic. Secondly, self-reflective ability is an instrumental tool that promotes improvement in a host of skills, expertise, and experience in executing various functions. Reflection is the ability of a human being to think back, observe their actions, and learn from it to make superior decisions in the present and future endeavors. The self-assessment test is one critical tool that helps in developing self-reflective values of an individual because it triggers and juggles one’s mind about past experiences. Career development in various fields is influenced and affected by our ability to self-reflect and learn from past encounters (Boud, 2013). At one point in one’s life, one must learn from many of their experiences, not when receiving the feedback. The feedback from the self-assessment test was very informative because it informs of the experiences encountered in the persuading of a career in web development. Self-reflective is critical for an individual to successfully develop a career in web development because it needs significant experience and given the fact that the job requires a practical learning approach rather than sitting in a classroom to learn about web development. The practical based approach of learning and executing or working in website development necessitates the need to gain significant self-reflective skills and abilities.
Self-Reflective is vital in career-related skill improvement. The reflection is rooted in the ability to recall, think back, observe our past actions, and learn from it to help make improved decisions. In a career journey, people encounter experiences and tasks that are greater or smaller than what one has experienced or encountered in the past. It is those activities and experiences that one participated, thought, felt, and acted during a problem solving or executing them; it refers to experiences a person lived through. In web development and designing, the person encounters varying levels of challenging tasks and activities that require critical analysis, data evaluation, and making a decision based on the findings of the analysis. The web development profession requires a person to improve daily, a process that self-reflective skills help in building. Improving the performance ability and skills of a web developer through self-reflection entails the following three-step approach. first, reflect on one’s experiences and past completed web development tasks and jobs and learn from it. (Peng et al., 2018, 18) Secondly, reflect on web development learning, analyze the experience and compare with principles and models at hand. Finally, put them into a practical application that you learned from experience and learning to make improved decisions about one career in website development.
Evaluative skills are deployed in verifying the credibility of claims people make and determine the quality of reasoning people show in making decisions, arguments and giving explanations. Evaluative skills are critical in shaping one’s career and way of thinking. It is applicable in assessing the quality of various elements that are vital for valuable thinking including analysis, interpretation, opinions, inferences, proposals, beliefs, hypotheses and decisions (Falchikov, & Boud, 1989, 8). web developers need to have strong evaluation skills to make informed and quality judgments and credible work outcomes. Self-assessment tests help in demonstrating the evaluative skills needed in advancing a career in web development.
Professional Development Plan
The professional development plan is based on identifying SMART career goals that will help in reaching ideal goals. The four objectives are discussed in this section of the paper.
To Satisfy Client or Customer Needs
The planned outcome of meeting client needs is improving the quality of services and products that are offered to the client. Developing outstanding marketing websites to the clients in the marketing industry to promote the success of the client firms. For instance, the client needs to gain dominance in digital marketing, promoting the brand name of the client products and services on the market with a stipulated timeframe (Felke-Morris, & Morris, 2007, 20). Web development is a practical and application sector that requires continuous learning. To achieve the goal requires constant learning from experience and tasks executed, it allows development.
To Become A Great Programmer
Achieving this goal requires dedication and devotion to learn more than 7 hours per day. Working as a front-end web developer was always my dream, and upon graduation, the devotion is directed towards becoming a great web program. The process is attainable through learning the following: HTML, jQuery, PHP7, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, and Bootstrap content that will boost my career as a web developer and programmer (Sebesta, 2008, 19). Navigating through the list will make promote my experience, knowledge, and skills that will propel any web developer to the top of their game. One can master the listed elements within a year, but programming is based more on the application, practising, and learning from past experiences to boost the quality of work.
To Start to Program
Web developer operates in the programing space that helps beginners to make the software. The goal is attainable through learning web development to help gain knowledge in programming. It is critical to get the basics of all elements that shape programming as a career including web development and other elements including JavaScript, Html, CSS among others (Meloni, & Telles, 2008, 21). the target dates for realizing the goal is within three months following graduation when information learned is still fresh and clear in mind. The passion and motivation to explore new challenges promote this career development goal for a web development graduate.
To Get A Software Engineer Jobs
Software engineering entails developing information systems by developing, designing, and installing software solutions to the clients. It helps in determining the feasibility by evaluating and assessing the problem-solving skills, analysis, definition and capturing the requirements for developing lasting solutions to the problems (Yue, & Ding, 2004, 6). The goal is attainable through learning web development and computer science and their application patterns. Some of the skills required include software design, analytical skills, software testing, among others. It is attainable after completing further academic qualifications that empower one experience and knowledge in information systems. It will take approximately five years to reach this level, and takes significant determination effort and commitment of resources to achieve it.
Conclusion
Self-assessment is instrumental in shaping a person’s experience, knowledge, and skills to boost career development. The test helps in determining self-appraisal and personal development. The skills covered encompass self-reflective, analytical, and evaluative skills that accrue from self-assessment. The goals in one career promote dedication and effort to grow in one’s career. The more challenging the goals, the greater the motivation and drive to realize the goals.
