Enculturation is the process whereby a person learns about the traditions of their native culture and adopts it as their way of life. In most cases, children learn about a culture that requires no modification as it is the original content of the parent’s culture. On the contrary, acculturation entails learning two or more cultures, typically the dominant ones that are not their own. They then submerging in it for their normative practices. For instance, people who spend most of their time in foreign countries will be interested in learning a foreign language, food habits and clothing.
In most societies, diversity is yet to get part of the social structuring. As such the has been social exclusions of the minorities in various aspects. The cornerstone of the inclusion of the minorities lies in shifting from the shared culture to the major culture. While making the shift, they often face challenges of community engagement. It is because the incorporation by the ethnic community has a significant impact on the way the minorities incorporate themselves into their cultural structure. Thus, the major culture they are shifting to must embrace cultural diversity to produce equality.
I am time-oriented. In most cases, event-oriented cultures get deemed to be unproductive, wasteful, and inefficient. Dealing with a client from an event-oriented culture would require positive thoughts to get productive in different ways. In dealing with the client, I would use time spent waiting to learn about their culture and the good things they have. Also, I would build enough time cushions between events to plan on building a rapport at the convenience of the client in that the lateness for the appointment does not become a compromise. One of the best ways to immerse yourself into the client’s culture is learning their worldview and pushing yourself to have fun with their language skills. Also, one should strive to do things on the client’s schedule while holding the distinctiveness.
