The Coronavirus has now become a pandemic that the entire world is grappling to contain. With its rapid infectious rate, countries are working out on strategies and policies to prevent the spread of the virus. Since the pandemic has called for prompt measures, Inglesby’s paper aims at informing policy efforts to prevent the spread of the virus, cushion the vulnerable and affected, as well as postulate top priority measures to be implemented immediately. Inglesby’s paper is published in the Foreign Affairs magazine. The US government’s international relations and foreign policy department owns the magazine. The Council of Foreign Relations is in charge of the magazine, which implies that it is a credible source and that Inglesby’s position paper is plausible, since the department deals with foreign policies.

Inglesby (n.pag) is postulating immediate policy measures that the US government should put in place to control and prevent the spread of the virus. The first top priority measure is to option adequate information about the virus, including transition and preventive measures, to educate the public to cushion themselves from contracting the virus. Inglesby (n.pag) has indicated about washing hands regularly, covering coughs, staying home, canceling gatherings, and even grounding the air travel for a while to stop the rapid spread of the virus. However, and more importantly, despite these short-term measures, Inglesby also points out that developing a vaccine should be a top priority. Perhaps this is the reason why President Trump was ready to fund any company in and outside America, which is working on a corona vaccine. This long-term measure would solve the outbreak and prevent further deaths.

Finally, Inglesby also proposes that the healthcare system should receive adequate financial support to contain the pandemic. More notably, Inglesby recommends that medical professionals and the security system should be able to find new cases, identify people with nCoV, isolate, and treat them. Mainly, this he identifies should be local, national, and international efforts to contain the pandemic.
