The law of attraction video

1. The video outlines basic claims such that if an individual wish to utilize the law of attraction effectively, one must focus personal energy for 30 days. As such, an individual would develop a habit with becomes a natural automatic process relative to personal desires (Your Youniverse, 2018). Hence, the law of attraction and the 30-day challenge serve to manifest the success formula and exemplify the basic claims as follows:

• There is always something to be grateful for and make a conscious effort to find those things
• Always look for positivity in every situation to achieve the best course of action.
• When you prioritize your happiness over anything else in your life, you centre your power and increase your activity
• You can attract what you want because you have the ability to bring it into your experience whenever you choose
• You learn to avert from resistance to ensure that you live a joyous life full of abundance.

1. On a scale of 0% to 100%, the number 50 represents the extent to which I believe in the Law of Attraction. I chose 50 as it’s right in the middle, and this correlates to my thinking. I believe in certain parts of the Law of Attraction, while I am still cynical about the others.
2. The Law of Attraction could be true since when people think of positive thoughts, they may receive a positive outcome (Your Youniverse, 2018). Our brain uses our imagination to form thoughts and opinions about things, and these thoughts become ideas and actions.

3. The Law of Attraction could also be false since it is not an actual law of thinking, just a belief. It is a form of “self-help” in one’s life that cannot just be cured with visualizing of the things you want to happen in your life (Your Youniverse, 2018). I also think the Law of Attraction is false because it teaches people to only care about themselves and disregards the needs of others.

Street epistemology video

1. Colton believes in the Law of Attraction as he has worked in real estate since the age of 18, and has first-hand seen the Law of Attraction run its course. He discusses how he has seen many people in real estate who don’t put in much effort, and they do not make it very far in the business (Magnabosco, 2018). On the other hand, he has seen many people who put all their effort into the business and become successful by their fourth or fifth year (Magnabosco, 2018). I do not think Colton’s belief is based on sound logic because although the people who work hard may experience more success than those who do not, success may not always be brought to those who are determined to succeed.
2. The street epistemologist influenced Colton to think about/question his belief in the Law of Attraction by getting him to admit that there are limitations in his thinking (Magnabosco, 2018). The street epistemologist uses the example of thinking that he could grow his hand longer than the other one, which then convinces Colton to admit that there are limitations to everything in life. Colton is stumped as he reconsiders his logic and view on the law of attraction based on the street epistemologists example.
3. Personally, I do not apprehend the Law of Attraction, but a situation that would convince myself or someone else that it is true would be if I received a pay raise at my job. Anyone would have confidence in the Law of Attraction if they had been working hard each and every day at their job and after a few months received a salary increase. If a worker had put in the effort each day and received benefits, they would believe that their determination is the cause of the pay raise, subsequently believing in the Law of Attraction.
4. Based on this exercise, I can conclude that the Law of Attraction is not true (Magnabosco, 2018). I am not a believer in all things that are unnatural; I think that letting nature run its course and lead you on your own path is intuitive. I think that believing something will happen or occur just because you want it to is not logical. Although the Law of Attraction is not entirely true, there are parts that I believe in. I believe that hard work and dedication may bring success your way, but this is not always a guarantee. My thinking has not changed in any way as a result of watching the Street Epistemologist video, as I stick to thinking on the subject matter.
5. On a scale of 0% to 100%, I am 50% confident that the Law of Attraction is true. The content in this exercise has not influenced my thinking, and I am sticking with my opinion that the Law of Attraction is only half true.

Different personal belief  

I would reconsider the idea of Catholicism based on my personal belief and what I have learned from the videos. I have always been strong-willed when it comes to religion and what I believe. I believe in the ideas of Christianity and that Jesus Christ is my lord and savior. Despite being a Christian, I can reconsider the beliefs of Catholics. I always thought the two differed in many ways, but they also share some similar beliefs. This exercise in critical thinking has caused me to consider every aspect of an idea, rather than just assuming the facts.
