Waste laws and regulations
The EPA poses regulations on the households, manufacturing solid, industrial, and hazardous waste beneath the resource conservation and recovery act. Which main objective and theme are protecting the people from risks of waste disposal and then the maintenance of energy or natural resources through recycling or recovery, reduction or elimination of waste and cleaning up of residue that happens to have spilled, leaked or happens to be disposed of improperly (Bergeson, 2016).
Hazardous waste
The resource conservation and recovery act develops a program or a system used for controlling dangerous waste on timely basis generation until its ultimate disposal
Hazardous waste storage, treatment, recycling and disposal
To its maximum potential, the EPA has tried the level best in establishing hazardous waste regulation that creates a balance on the conservation of resources with the surety of protecting the human surrounding and health. Most hazardous waste can be recycled efficiently and safely, with others being treated and disposed of in incinerators and landfills. Recycling of the waste is beneficial to the environment and human beings, inclusive of the reduction of the consumption of raw materials and the number of raw materials that have to be treated or disposed of (Bergeson, 2016). Moreover, the improper storing of such materials may cause spills fires contamination of drinking water and soil.
Non-hazardous waste
Defines industrial waste which, based on the regulations, can’t be added to the sewage line or the dumpster. Such as lactic acid, carbonates, and bromides. Despite the materials having no adverse effects on human health, they should be collected and disposed of properly for various reasons.
The EPA has established regulations that govern the non-hazardous waste through the conversion of the waste into other usable resources through recycling and combustion without posing any effects to the human health and environment(Bergeson, 2016). It is also beneficial to the production industry in the providence of raw materials, thus reduction of the consumption of natural materials such as crude oil.
The laws are applicable in our society in ensuring that the streets and living places are free from waste that expose the humans and the environments from the effects of the emissions from the trash. The rules and regulations concerning waste management are one of the best in action that enabled the conservation of the environment and secured human life from the effects of exposure to the waste. Advocating for more awareness to embrace the preservation of the surrounding.
