What I knew Versus What I Learnt

I have learnt much from the topic of homelessness. Before I knew homelessness was an issue affecting most of the Americans, but I did not have the idea that 3.5 million citizens are experiencing homelessness each year. Also, I have learnt there could different definition of homelessness depending on the underlying circumstance. For instance, in my case, I knew that homelessness was the absence of shelter for a family. Still, it could also be defined as living in temporary shelters, moving from one shelter to another, and living below the minimum standard. Further, the writer presented to me a glaring statistic that I had not come across before that those individuals who have been to prison just once experience homelessness at a rate nearly seven times higher than the general public. Similarly, those who had been incarcerated experience homelessness at a rate of thirteen times than the general public.

The use of Ethos, Logos, and Pathos in the Paper

The writer has applied the use of ethos, logos, and pathos to efficiently advocate the need for the government and other interested parties to address homelessness. The writer’s discussion was not only logical but also had considerable emotional appeal. I was moved to the extent of researching more on the topic. The research statistics incorporated in this discussion adequately justify its credibility. The opportunities that were missed in this exercise was doing a comparative analysis of the U.S with another country that has tackled homelessness effectively. This approach would highlight the necessary steps that the state should take to resolve the issue.

Persuasion to Address the Issue

The writer has been successful in persuading me to take action to address this issue. Currently, I am doing more research on the topic to have a clearer view of the situation at hand. Perhaps, we can later team up to address the issue.
