The emotional and psychological condition of ages population

Grace Emasealu,

Thank you for your impressive and educative post. The aged population suffers from dementia and affects their mood and behavior immensely. The emotional and psychological impact it has on the caregivers leads to the development of unwanted behaviors, thus affecting patient outcomes (Arnold, & Boggs, 2019). I agree with your discussion on Theory U regarding conflict resolution: the co-creating phase helps foster collaboration in the healthcare setting and ensure that patient care is done effectively. Successful conflict management requires the effort of involved parties and the willingness to resolve their differences. The root cause of the problem should be identified and effectively addressed. The ARIA conflict management theory is useful in ensuring that all are in good terms and effective service delivery.

Multidisciplinary collaboration is encouraged in an organization to foster maximum goal attainment. We should co-exist peacefully to create a conducive work environment. In your PICOT question, I agree that medication is not a solution to all psychological conditions; hence, new therapies should be implemented to curb drug side effects.

Tiffany Bryant,

Toxic behavior occurs in our daily work activities. We all different viewpoints, and if we don’t develop a consensus, it leads to a lack of job satisfaction, aggressiveness, and poor communication. I agree with you that, even though what you are doing is in line with your practice, but affects your colleagues, it results in negative attitudes. I am intrigued by your continuous efforts of Patient Advocacy as it is one of the primary roles of nurses. Whatever we do, be it negative or positive, has the potential of causing conflicts in the workplace (Almost, 2016). Therefore, nurse leaders should be equipped with effective conflict resolution strategies.

I support the use of normative theory in conflict resolution, as it clearly defines our expectations and goals. By developing the cause of a problem, it will be easier to conclude. Innovative leaders use everyday challenges, crises, and obstacles to establish a potential opportunity in their businesses. Nurses should consequently use the challenges experienced as an opportunity to settle their differences and create positive change in the healthcare system.

Thank you for your feedback regarding my post. Indeed, conflicts are a manifestation of build-up hidden negative emotions, and its an opportunity to start a new beginning, and new strategies.  The conflicts experienced should be a chance to renew policies, educate staff, and foster interdisciplinary collaborations. Nurse managers should demonstrate effective conflict resolution skills to create a conducive work environment and facilitate the provision of safe and quality health services. Evidence and research-based interventions should be integrated into the health profession to encourage safe practices. Multidisciplinary collaboration is necessary for resolving conflicts, especially those regarding patient care since nurses are not the only caregivers (Arnold, & Boggs, 2019). Different approaches are applied in resolving conflicts depending on the nature of the conflict, culture, personal perspectives, and social status. Therefore, all nurse leaders need to develop practical communication skills for effective resolving of disputes among different individuals in the healthcare professional.
