Organization Culture of Alibaba Company
Organizational culture is defined as a collection of shared assumption, beliefs, and values which are in place to govern people’s behavior. On the other hand, these beliefs and values are taken into consideration seriously by the subjects of the organization, for they act as guidelines to monitor charitable acts and morals, for instance, dressing and daily routine performance of the workers. This essay discusses on organizational culture of Alibaba company, how the leadership of the company has influenced the culture, and its effect upon that what I can personally recommend as changes to improve the success of the company.
However, organizational culture has been divided into four types, which include Hierarchy, Market, Clan, and Adhocracy. Clan culture derived from collaboration in that members involved see themselves as one big family. They have one thing in common, which is love and require each member of the organization, and cooperation is the key. Leadership plays its part by mentoring all the subjects leaving the company to rely on traditions and commitments. The central value here is teamwork. Market culture is made through competition by other companies while making sure that the end of the marketing process gains results. Here the main value goal is succeeding against all the competitors, thus creating more profits and market shares compared to others (Tsui et al.,2017). Further, there is a hierarchy culture rooted in the control and design of the company. The environment of operation has strict guidelines that govern it through the leadership that involves monitoring and proper coordination of all staff. Indeed, leadership plays a more critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of a company. Alibaba started as a small company of about eighteen members to become one of the Chinese largest e-commerce dealing with electric commerce and specializing with finance hence owning other small companies across the world. It is privileged to have a grateful leader Jack Ma who is the co-founder. Through his leadership skills, the company can grow based on having an influential organizational culture in hand with visions and values as the main stronghold of growth (Tsui et al.,2017).
Besides, Jack Ma has been able to run the organization by applying transfer strategy in the subsidiary companies to networking in the communication department besides recruiting directly from society. This led to having many job vacancies; then, the company is influenced by the culture of performance where the supervisors are urged to support all the employees towards achieving exceptional performance. He has implemented advanced systems that inspire all workers to have hard work and use of transference of labor in the company. Likewise, given leadership responsibility, I would recommend such a factor and also advise accountability in both my roles and the workers. This will impact positively on the employees’ behavior and uphold the company’s values. One other thing is to mentor each employee the same as Jack Ma, who takes time in advising his employees and encouraging them to work hard and being positive on the company’s schedule. Also, the implementation of the annual review to get daily feedback on the progress of the organization (Tsui et al.,2017).
Conclusively, Organizational culture is essential for it helps in guiding and modifying the company in various aspects. For the total success of an organization, there must be proper coordination from the upper and lower class where they bond and work in achieving the best success. It is the role of leaders to ensure that they promote ethical culture to increase the growth of the company in terms of goods and services offered in the market.
