Distribution Assignment

Numerous distribution methods are implemented to encourage diligence and commitment. However, some are more effective than others in accomplishing their said objectives. In my view, the reinforcement distribution system ranks best in making individuals deliver productively. Reinforcement is a type of behavioral conditioning that can be observed even in our early years (Ain & Aron, 35). It accounts for both positive and negative behavior within any environment, school, or workplace.

Positive reinforcement is an intervention carried out to promote desirable behavior. In this, an individual is praised after he or she accomplishes specific set goals with much zeal and tenacity. The praise is accompanied by approval from the superiors who would give exceptional recommendations about you, and this would consequently open more opportunity doors, in all possible aspects. Negative reinforcement is meant to discourage unwarranted conduct, for instance, issuing warnings for substandard work. The reinforcement distribution will undoubtedly prompt me to work hard to acquire the said benefits and avoid penalties.

In my opinion, the worst distribution is the one on equity. Equity is being encouraged by many companies and schools, but its realization is a lot more impractical. Individuals have different capabilities in terms of skills and the amount of knowledge that can be comprehended,

and therefore, inequality is inevitable. Take, for example, a secretary, who is good at her work as she portrays devotion to it, learns that another secretary will be hired with a higher pay grade to carry out the same tasks as her but possesses more advanced computer skills. In this scenario, equity cannot prevail regardless of the first secretary’s outstanding record at work.

If I were to design an ideal distribution system, it would be a reward system. Rewards are indispensable when one wants to encourage the frequency of desired deeds continually. The reward system will additionally push other underperforming individuals to put in more effort to secure a reward eventually. On this account, the working environment will thrive as each individual will be giving their level best. The criteria for rewarding will be based on individual abilities to ensure that it is fair.

Specific advantages that will be associated with the reward system include that it increases motivation, boosts confidence, and self-esteem whereby a person feels appreciated. More so, it encourages conformity to proper behavior, and it stimulates on-time completion and submission of any assigned work. Nevertheless, this system will have downsides, and they include addiction where people cannot deliver if rewards are not offered. Devaluation such that individuals become less intrigued by the awards, possible favoritism in awarding and that it increases undue pressure on the individuals. Proper planning of the reward system will prevent these disadvantages from manifesting.

The given activity relates to the week’s topic in that it shows that human beings require a motivating factor to carry out a task to completion. In essential things, motivation is necessary; for instance, an individual who is eating has been motivated by hunger to do so. These motivating factors can come from within and without, and they help us maximize our abilities. Functionalism is a sociological term used to mean how parts of society work together to promote societal growth. In a working environment, functionalism can be used to encourage growth by ensuring strict adherence to spelled out norms.

The activity undertaken relates to the concept of specific triggers that direct and determine relationships among people, which is derived from the Hidden Brain podcast. The activity involves developing a system that will encourage motivation, and through this system, a trigger is created that will automatically influence the relationship between teachers and students or employers and employees. The reward system will see to it that the relationships fostered are appropriate.
