Reflection on Cloud Computing

Organizations have to adopt cloud computing services inevitably, as they continuously review their business operations purposely to cut on costs. Cloud computing is a general term referring to the model that enables convenient on-demand network access that can be shared to a pool of configurable resources of computing such as networks, servers, storage, applications, as well as services, whose provisioning and releasing requires minimal management efforts or rather the interactions with the service providers are minimized. IT infrastructural installations are usually uneconomical, including the costs of maintaining the personnel; hence avenues to cut down the costs are significant.

Cloud computing teaches several ideas that are considered applicable in work environments. As a student of computer science, the notion of cloud computing helps me in work settings where I will be able to reduce on costs of production. Cloud computing is helpful when it comes to the promotion of availability, comprising essential characteristics, service models, as well as deployment models (Ardolino et al., 2018). As an IT manager in the organization of work, I will employ the knowledge of cloud computing to implement pay-as-you-use service and other subscriptions which minimize the costs in the organization. However, to reduce the IT infrastructural costs further, the cloud computing services can be shared among different users to improve the consumption rates.

Cloud computing affects organizational agility by necessitating the response of business organizations to business demands quickly at relatively lower costs. At the same time, the company can deploy solutions fast, helping the business to ensure that the critical business information is available to the clients and employees as well and that they can be accessed promptly using any computer elsewhere. However, the cloud computing science covers on IT management, enlightening the learners on the skills in planning capacities. The capacity in planning targets the storage, memory, and network, as well as devices that are required for the running of the organization (Aljabre, 2012). The traditional approaches in some organizations are inadequate, allowing no proper utilization of IT resources, which renders them idle, hence tremendous wastage of opportunities. The cloud computing skills are applicable in the release of unused capacities, reduction of under-utilized capabilities, and management of the equipment’s life cycle, usually by selecting the right storage and identifying the misappropriate resources.

In conclusion, most companies are looking for ways to reduce the expenditures, embracing any new strategy realized of which IT installation and maintenance is only the way to lead the businesses to cloud computing. However, cloud computing science is gaining popularity in organizations, with a good number of companies preferring the transfer of the burden of hosting the in-house technology for them to focus on the essential business processes. The idea leads the business to realize the benefits of operating larger scale companies. Most importantly, the shift of IT to cloud computing saves on costs but increases efficiency.
