Question 1

Non-work activities help the workers have fun while at the workplace.  Workers having fun while at the workplace is an effective way of managing and enhancing the employee’s emotions. Non-work activities promote productivity since it increases teamwork builds good relationships among the workers, reduces stress, which in turn improves the worker task performance.

Question 2

It is always frustrating for a supervisor to see the workers do everything else other than work during work hours. Working all through can drain someone, and thus the workers need some break to get off the work. We could set up some breaks in between the work hours. It is only during these breaks that the workers can engage in fantasy sports. Other working hours should be entirely for working.

Question 3

Prohibiting fantasy sport completely at work will only make the workers rebel, and in no time, they will look for some other games and distractions to engage in when they are supposed to be working. We would not entirely prohibit fantasy games. We would come up with a schedule of the day at work that allows the workers to have some time away from work.

Question 4

In the instance, when we prohibit the fantasy sports league at work, the workers would most likely respond negatively. We would try to explain to the workers that the productivity of the organization, which is the main aim of being hired, is being affected by the fantasy sports league they are engaging in since there focus distracted from the work.

Question 5

Yes. We think that allowing employees to engage in fantasy leagues while at work is a form of positive reinforcement. The workers need a mental break from all the work, and a fantasy sports league can help refresh their minds. This would help the workers to be more productive when they go back to work since their brains are more refreshed.

Question 6

Look for other affirmative reinforcement plans, such as incentives and gift cards. This will help increase their efforts with the knowledge that they can earn something from it.

SAS

Question 1

Employees are attracted by better standards than what is offered in the industry. SAS can provide pay, which is slightly higher than what is provided by other organizations. They can also provide the employees with extra perks such as company car, medical insurance, and other allowances. Salary is a remunerative component of most of the people seeking jobs. However, the job description should also be presented in a way that it is interesting to attract many people to apply for the role. SAS can incorporate internal references from the working employees. They can also set up incentives for the employees who refer new members to the company.

Question 2

SAS can establish and maintain maximum efforts from the employees by giving incentives concerning the performance level of each employee. They can also offer the employees cash awards and career development training to enhance their performance. SAS should also ensure that they provide enough resources and manpower to enable allocating of work in shift duties as per the flexibility of the employees. This will ensure that the workers are not overworked hence maximizing performance. The organization should also set up goals and incentives for individual workers to help maximize performance.

Question 3

SAS can ensure that they maintain and keep their employees by giving them the best benefits and employee welfare programs. Talented engineers can be retained by allowing them to improve their skills through further training. The employees will prefer staying at SAS because of the opportunity to excel in their abilities. SAS can also ensure that they have an internal promotions program, a conducive working environment, incentives and appreciation for excellent performance, Canteen facilities, medical insurance, allowances such as house allowance, and family incentives to mention but a few, as a way to retain the employees.

Job Perks

Question 1

I would offer my employees with Office perks and Flexible schedules to encourage them to meet the company’s goals since these perks are in favor of the budget of the company, and they are liked by the employees. For instance, offering free meals, allowing casual dress while can help the employees save money, and coming at work would feel like being at home, thus promoting performance. Additionally, adopting a flexible work schedule where the employees can work at home due to some emergency and personal problems can help motivate the workers. In this way, it would be possible for me to deal with a budget cut on peaks since the chosen peaks do not require a lot of cash, but they would be providing a higher degree of motivation to the employees. I would also consider using intrinsic motivation by recognizing the work done by employees by praising them.

Question 2

Yes. The incorporation of this personal perk to my budget will help me at a personal level to achieve the goal of having an excellent team at a low budget. This integration would help me enhance the morale and motivation of the employees. The company is short on revenue, and it requires highly motivated employees, and this can be achieved by integrated the discussed perks at a low budget.

Question 3

The motivation theory that resonates with me is the equity theory. I would ensure that the employees are treated fairly and equally when it comes to the Office perks and Flexible work schedule. The perks would be offered to all the employees without any discrimination. I think if the employees are not treated fairly and are offered incentives and appreciation unfairly, it would lead to a low job performance from the employees who feel that they are being treated unfairly.

Cutting Costs

Some of the non-value added expenses that I have and cutting them would help cope with the 25% shrink to my revenue are; car loan, weekend parties, cinemas, trekking trips, clubs, refreshments, musical tours, car insurance, and miscellaneous expenses. Some of the necessary costs I have as a student are; college fees, rent, food, clothing, books, internet, software, medical insurance, and electricity bills.

To cut on the non-value expenses, I would move closer to college or move to the college hostels to be able to trek to school or public transport. By moving closer to college, I would sell the car to cut on the car expenses. I would also stop going to the movies and compensate for this by watching movies through Netflix or Amazon. I would shift to online live streaming for musical tours instead of going for musical trips. I would encourage my friends to participate with me on socially responsible activities rather than going to the weekend galas and clubs. This will help me know my real friends that are those who will encourage my new decision to be responsible and cut on unnecessary costs. I would get a look for part-time jobs to be involved during weekends. I would also cut on snacks by ensuring that I stick to the basic three meals a day, and this will also help me eat healthier.

To cut on the necessary expenses, I would move to a cheaper but conducive house like a shared hostel or rental houses. I would also start cooking in my room or eat hostel food instead of buying food. Looking for a shared internet facility, for instance, Wi-Fi and utilizing the college’s internet would help reduce the cost on the internet. I would also use the books provided in the library instead of buying my books. Lastly, I would ensure that I take notes in soft copy instead of buying handouts provided by the lecturers.
