Little is known about Fan Kuan’s, but his work is removable, portraying a majestic Chinese landscape.  Long ago, Chinese painters had raised landscape as a subject having its rights. In his painting, he described a scene that was bounded by mountain ranges and divided by two rivers. Landscape played a vital part in shaping the Chinese character and also mind. From their culture, they viewed the mountains as sacred and imagined them to be a habitat of immortals.  Fan Kuan painted a straightforward and robust example of their landscape. Through this portrait, he conveyed a cosmic vision of a person harmony with the way of life in a vast but orderly world. He works emulated the early Northern song tribute styles of landscape painting.

Traveler among mountain and streams is an ideal memorial that offered inspiration, and the painters were encouraged to return time.  The classic perspective of Chinese three planes is seen, which is far, middle, and close. The painter used an archaic convention as one of his style, which dates back to the Tang Dynasty. Fan used another stippling style in his work known as Raindrop strokes,  to bring about close- texture.  Travelers among mountain and stream is a national palace museum, Taipei, Taiwan, that beares the hidden signature (Ling-hao, 2016).

Chinese scroll painting is said to date back in at least 4,000 years ago. It is said to hold a unique point in their culture. The Chinese painters used special brushes and inks to create calligraphy and art on the manuscripts. Some of the designs that they in cooperate include flower, landscape, and sometimes an inspirational message. One of the formats that were used in the scroll painting was the vertical form. The size aided in the vertical hanging of the monuments.  The vertical design offered the viewers a chance to analyze and criticize the art (Eagles, 1992).
