Technology Improves Creativity
Technology refers to the application of knowledge acquired by scientific means for practical uses to advance the know-how of the society, which consequently results in a more complex but more natural way of doing things. Over the last few years, advancement in technology has been able to impact the way we interact across the globe. It has facilitated individuals’ connections that have resulted in increased interactions among people (Yar & Steinmetz, 2019). Technology has also impacted creativity through the creation of innovations, inventions and consequently, facilitated access to the entire world, therefore, creating awareness of the emerging technological knowledge. Technology, however, has adverse effects on critical thinking. Few cases have proved the advancement of technology as a hindrance to certain situations. Technology has played down specific approaches such as problem- solving as well as language expression amongst individuals. Digitalization has automated various processes, thus removing different strategies to problem-solving. Technology, however, has positive contributions towards creativity; therefore, its use should be welcomed and maximally utilized. Firstly, technology serves as the primary source of information to masses. People are capable of making inquiries regarding relevant information from the internet. Information obtained serves as a source of knowledge and a platform to develop minds. Sharing skills, thoughts and opinions further provides solutions to individual problems. Most people have personal issues which may find hard to explain. Sharing the concerns on social media may, however, prove useful and provide a permanent answer. Technology also offers vast experiences which increase our potential minds to grow rich in insight. For instance, a person thinking of pursuing a particular course may search information regarding what the course entails. The experience in familiar programs by other individuals shared over the internet may thus prove helpful. Decision making will, therefore, be convenient as the involved person(s) will be made aware of the possible outcomes.
Secondly, technology promotes creativity in businesses and enterprises by enhancing innovations. Human Resource information sources and digital technologies improve the capacity of employees to generate inventions. The progressions in technological systems offer conducive and desirable conditions resulting in perfection in jobs and consequently, improvement in creativity. Variety of tools, information sources and digital applications facilitate the creation of outstanding ideas which once implemented, may result in innovative products; thanks to modern technology. Technology further offers a platform for interaction between consumers and suppliers (Espejo & Dominici, 2017). The feedback provided by consumers concerning specified products and services offers new insights and perceptions to sellers on the areas of improvement. Leadership in business premises is also enhanced. Leaders’ communication with colleagues from different organizational levels is significant as it facilitates analysis of more facts promoting critical thinking.
Lastly, technology facilitates creativity in learners (McKnight et al. 2016). Students’ use of technological applications to create blogs builds critical thoughts. Learners can think and write topics they find exciting, share thus enhancing interactions. Blogging acts as a tool through which learners feel accountable for their opinions, thus facilitating the incorporation of creativity, which could not be the case before. Development of audio-visuals as learning materials has also been made a success. Creation and sharing of these materials offer a great opportunity for them to enhance their creative skills.
In recap, critical analysis seems to conclude that technology has impacted the development of creativity in our lives. Despite the negative impacts of technology which overweigh the positives, it has changed the general way of thinking in humans. The access to information has improved experiences and provided multiple approaches which enhance problem-solving and further builds creativity.
