Hello Evan, congratulations for making it to the last week and thanks for the informative discussion. I agree with you that reforms in the mental healthcare system are complex but can be achieved through minimizing stigmatization, prevention of mental health disorders and implementation of policies that advocate for wider mental health programs. Johansson et al. (2019), asserts that insurance companies have been in the forefront in derailing efforts towards effective mental healthcare because they often call healthcare practitioners to decide on how long patients would stay in healthcare centers or the type of medication that they should receive, simply because the insurance companies do not want to pay more funds to the beneficiary.

Employers need to provide a conducive working environment that offers both social and financial support to employees with mental disorders. Employers need to pay for the health insurance of employees with mental disorders so as to access screening and treatment for the disorders. Employers should also organize counseling sessions for their employees to identify what results in mental disorders to the employees, and work towards rectifying the identified problems (Townsend & Morgan, 2017). Mental health disorders are a major health concern affecting many employees, and it has resulted in lower productivity both at the individual and organizational level. Thus there is a need to address identified mental disorders among employees with immediate effect.

Hello Anastasia, congratulations for making it to the final week despite several challenges on the way. I support with you in your discussion that mental health disorders may often be unnoticed and affects employee’s behavior, mood and thinking. One of the issues derailing seeking treatment for employees with mental disorders is stigma (Kaakinen et al. 2015). Fellow employees should accommodate those with mental disorders so as to reduce levels of stigma and encourage them to seek medication. Stigmatization increases mental disorders. Levels of isolation among employees with mental disorders have also fueled mental disorders and employees should work towards reducing isolation of fellow employees. Employers need to hold regular interactions with their employees so as to identify issues affecting their employees. If mental disorders are identified at early stages, it will be easy treating them. Nurses have a major role to play in ensuring that many patients are drawn to mental healthcare. One way nurses should ensure many people seek mental healthcare is through the provision of better medication and quality services that will enhance the quality of life, minimize mental illnesses and ultimately save lives (Kennedy, 2017). Consequently, many people with mental illnesses will be motivated to seek mental healthcare. Nurses also need to accommodate every patient seeking mental healthcare without discrimination.
