Why is more data important?
How different was information saved in the past from how it is presently saved?
What is the value of big data?
Does big data have any negative sides?
What do we need to do? | More data is important in many ways. One of the ways in which it is significant is that it permits us to see better and to see different. Big data forms a tool in which humanity is going to progress. Having big data means that we are going to do things that we could not do in the past.
In the past, information was saved on clay disks. This has not changed as disks are still used presently. What has changed is that the amount of information being saved currently is more, and things such as copying, searching, and processing have been made easier. Data has changed from stock to liquidity. As compared to past information that was unchangeable, present data can be changed.
With big data, we have more information and can do what we couldn’t do before.
Some of the negative sides associated with big data include being prone to thefts, such as algorithmic criminology, and that it will steal jobs. Algorithms and big data will likely challenge professional jobs and white-collar in the 21st century in the same way that blue-collar was challenged in the 20th century by the assembly line and factory automation.
We should be the masters and not servants of big data. We ought to do this by adjusting it to our needs. Apart from that, we are not good at handling the data that we gather, and we should also improve on this. Humanity should be able to learn from gathered information, and if not careful, big data is capable of burning us. |
