Comparing Football and Volleyball teams.

A group of individuals who play sports together makes up a sports team. Team members make decisions, solve problems and set goals in an atmosphere where they trust each other. Communication and cooperation are among the vital necessities in the accomplishment of the set objectives, which is to win. Sports teams vary from volleyball, football, baseball, basketball, rugby among others. Historically, sports was lined with unprofessionalism and the least paying activities. However, in the past decade, it has become extremely valuable and has been with leagues. Today, sports is among the most paying talent and professions with competitions across the globe. A football is a general term for games played between two teams where players use their foot to kick the ball. A football field must be rectangular with goalposts at two ends whereby the players pass the ball between the two posts. Volleyball on the hand is a game played by two teams whereby the players use their hands to bat the ball. A high net is set between the two teams, and the ball is passed over it. The paper compares and contrasts between volleyball and football teams.

Contrast

To begin with, the main difference between football teams and volley teams is their objective during the game. While the football teams work on kicking the ball to score a goal, the volley teams focus on grounding the ball on their opponents’ side. In football, the teams compete in grounding the ball on the other side of their opponents. A score is achieved when either of teams drops the ball on the ground. Besides, in football, the teams play in a field whereby the goalposts are on the ends allowing them to pass the ball amongst themselves with their feet. Each goal has a goalkeeper whose role is to prevent their opponents from scoring. In volleyball, the teams are separated by a high net whereby each member of either teamwork on ensuring the ball does not fall on the ground.

In soccer, a team is composed of 7-11 players inclusive of the goalkeeper. Each player has specific roles and positions throughout the game. For instance, there is a position for the midfielder, sweeper, forward and goalkeeper. The number of players in volleyball differs from football in that a team is made up of six players. They position themselves such that one three are in the front while the other three are at the back. After a win, the players must rotate so that no specific role is assigned to a specific player and all of them participate equally.

In soccer, the mode of movements of the teams differs from volleyball teams. Almost all positions of the soccer players require them to run throughout the game. Each team directs the ball to their opponent’s goalposts. In volleyball players move around a small area whereby each team is restricted to its area, unlike in football where both teams play in the same area. Also, players are allowed to contact the ball once as it moves back and forth amongst the players in different teams. In football, a player is around to move around the field with the ball.

Lastly, how to win in either of the sport differs as both games follow different rules. In soccer, it is easy to determine a winner as the goal post is the only score point. A point is only awarded once the ball hits the goal post and not on the general effectiveness of the players. Determining a score in volleyball seems to be complicated as there are various determinants of a score. Falling of the ball is not the only score determinant. Only players positioned at the net are allowed to spike the ball over the net unless a back player did it behind the attack line.

Comparison

Despite the huge difference between soccer and volleyball, teams in both sports have some similarities. In the two types of sport, a single game can only involve two teams at a time whereby there is a specific amount of time for a sport to run. Also, in both sports, winning is determined by the effectiveness and cooperation among the team members.  Best performance in either team is determined by the efforts put in practice as well during the sport. Besides, both games involve a lot of footwork regardless of the players’ role in either team. Also, players on both sides must exercise extreme body awareness for balance and stability while in the field. There are risks of injuries in both sports, especially on the knees and ankles as the players are most likely to fall or collide with other players.

Moreover, teams in both sports can opt for an indoor or outdoor match without changing the objectives of the game. Also, there are limited barriers to the entry of either team, unlike in other types of sports. For instance, entry to a hockey team requires expensive equipment as well facilities, the low barrier entry to volleyball and football teams has enabled their proliferation across the globe.
