4B. Regulatory Agencies
- Describe an action a regulatory agency took against a business in the past 6 months. Post a link to your source. Do you agree or disagree with the action? Explain your reasoning and support it with the materials from this week.
On December 20, 2019, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, as amended by the president who signed legislation, and he raised the federal minimum age of sale of tobacco products from 18 to 21 years. I agree with this regulatory agency because it is protecting the health of future generations, and the FDA will scan retailers, manufacturers, importer, and distributor compliances carefully. https://www.justice.gov/civil/current-and-recent-cases
- Respond to at least one of your classmates. Do you agree with their position? State at least one reason why or why not. Describe the effect the regulatory agency they have referenced has on the business environment.
I agree with their position because they are helping to speed discovery that generates our state with safe and regulated harm from a standardized tobacco product. The consequences of the regulatory agencies are to protect humans and the environment, and this will lead to higher production costs and lower productivity in business.
4P. Your text states that the mass media can play a relatively positive role in influencing and shaping the public agenda through the following techniques:
- Setting the public agenda.
- Framing issues.
- Serving as a watchdog to guard against fraud and abuse.
Choose one of the three methods above and explain how the mass media coverage informs the public about politics and public affairs in a positive way, and how it can also mislead and distort the truth. In other words, can the media both enhance and undermine American democratic principles and values? Please explain.
Agenda -setting is referred to as the making of public awareness and concern of essential problems by the media. The media does not reflect reality, they filter and shape it, and this can mislead and distort the truth to the public. Besides, the media concentrate on small problems and subjects cause the people to perceive those problems as most significant than other situations.
5B. Environment Management Blog
- You have been appointed as the new environmental manager for Microsoft. In a blog post to your key stakeholders, discuss using environmental management as a competitive advantage.
Microsoft has been the leading software industry for many years. Our capacity is to constantly the legacy, and this depends on the environmental strategy moving forward. Our surrounding activism has progressively become a requirement in day and age. As we are the leading organization in the software industry, we should take this opportunity to innovate and satisfy the need of our company. We should adopt the core capability of innovation and research technology. We should also serve as an example to other companies and focus on the best methods to improve our contact with the environment.
- Comment on at least one of your fellow classmate' s blog posts with a concern you would have if you were a key stakeholder. Cite references for your interest.
By introducing the power plant with the data Centre, we are literally clarifying the power distribution infrastructure and upgrading efficiency in the distribution of power. Perhaps, those strategies will prompt us to achieve objectives that are great in the future (Melkman, page 276). To comfort contemporary action while extending to get new ways to rig environmental problems.
5P. Our two-party system tends to draw the voting population toward either the Democratic or Republican party. However, many people refer to themselves as politically Independent when polled. Take a look at the most recent Gallup poll on Party Affiliation (Cohen, page 16). What keeps Independents from saying that they align with either the Democrats or the Republicans? Or do they align with one side? Explain your response.
Being an independent candidate doesn’t mean you are undecided, being in Democratic or the Republican can be tough for the group of voters(CNN, page 1). Some refuse to align with a party because they don’t like being labeled, Others believe that is like voting for the ‘lesser of two evils,’ and it is the ‘spirit of America,’ some think they will be lost between parties.
Is the two-party system working? Why or why not?
The two-party system is not working; the reason is that I believe that it has nothing to offer ether insufficient room for new ideas and third-party candidates. Besides, civil discourse among family, friends, and government officials is encounter collapse through the enormous polarization that can cause a two-party system.
6B Creating A Press Release
- In a departure from its normal business operations, Apple has recently teamed up with a biotech company to investigate the possibility of cloning human organs. You have been tasked with creating a press release to make this decision public and get ahead of any negative press. Compose a statement to the press to explain Apple' s decision and mitigate potential negative reactions.
I’m gratifying report that Apple has teamed up with Clonaid that is a biotech company that introduces they made the first clone of the human organ, which happens to be a 6-month-old baby boy. People begin to think that cloning is chopping up bodies, which is not the effect without the company. The reason why the Biotech company works with adult stem cells is that it doesn’t affect the demolition of the embryos versus utilizing embryonic system stem organs. It doesn’t need the destruction of embryos. Cloning is rarer, mostly a baby, when compared with chances of stroking by lighting. We have cells that don’t function as the way they are supposed to, especially when we begging to age, there is a possibility to use an organ that is cloned. I know that cloning can be dangerous, but I think the merits weigh out the demerits. Once the cell stops functioning, the rest of the organs are not far behind. The cloning of human organs will help patients suffering from spinal cord injuries, heart disease, and multiple sclerosis. Cloning will help to maintain more people alive, and it will hopefully reduce the death rate. I think the family will be safer understanding the cell is their own, or it is coming from other relatives.
- What is one public response to Apple' s news that you would anticipate? Do you think that your classmate successfully mitigated this response? State your reasons why or why not. If you do not feel your classmate attenuated the public response enough, how would you modify the release to compensate?
I would change that people would be excited to hear about Apple news. I believe each person should be happy because it is a matter of saving lives. I also think that there should be a question and the required steps as to how this will take place.
6P. Voter turnout in the United States is lower than in many other countries. Let’s investigate what factors keep people out of the electoral process.
- List 2 or 3 requirements in your state for either the voter registration process, voter laws, or eligibility rules. Name your state.
Lawrenceville is the city, Georgia. Rules for voter registration are
- Intent and purpose
- Acceptance of mail voter registration application
- Instruction and training of private entities
- Give an example of how voter ID laws or voter registration laws can affect voter turnout.
Demographics help to predict voter turnout, the demographics features such as race, sex, religion, income, geographic region, is used by the political scientists to research a voting population to predict voter turnout ratio in an election. https://www.eac.gov/voters/register-and-vote-in-your-state
- What do you think is the best way to increase voter turnout? You may also want to reference the following sites, which contain helpful articles on voter ID laws and voter turnout:
Voter turnout can increase radically by improving the electorate’s repetitiveness and knowing of policy problems. The United States should employ the importance of the primary election, and this has been a new and inevitable American intervention. Because most democracies rely on party leaders to develop candidate lists (Lopez, page 5). I think primaries play quite a significant role in US politics, in section reason being voters see them as unimportant
