The ivory trade started to decline, which took ten years. The population of elephants increased further. In 1997, the population had recovered tremendously in the 20years. In 1999 the ivory trade was opened in the global market, although it was supposed to be conducted by authorized states. Hong Kong was granted permission in 2008 to carry out the trade. The price of ivory increased, and hunting escalated again. The legal trade in Hong Kong opened loopholes for illegal ivory trade globally, according to the report by organizational conservation. The legal trade provided an arena for smuggling illegal ivory.
Terrorists started trading the ivory, which was acknowledged by global leaders. In Africa the mortality rate of the elephant is more than the birthrate. America and China agreed to end the illegal trade. Hong Kong promised to contain the loopholes for illegal trade. Moreover, rhinos and elephants are magnificent in Africa, and their worth should not be equalized with the revenue according to the video. Africa is faced with poverty and insecurity priorities, and it should not guarantee hunting down the animals. Wildlife should be protected as a global monument.
In conclusion, the video has highlighted the history of ivory trade from 1975. Initially, the elephant population was high, but when the trade picked up there, diversity reduced drastically. According to the video, agreements were met to end the trade. However, the contract to carry out legal ivory trade had loopholes to manage illegal trading.
