Soft and Interpersonal Skills for Developers

These two articles provide the qualities skills of a professional developer. One of the core interpersonal skills of a developer is the ability to communicate effectively. I found the discussion about building on interpersonal skills very helpful since most are the times we as software developers put more emphasis on developing our technical expertise and forget that the soft skills are equally essential to have. Communication skill is critical as it determines how we interact with fellow developers during project development. The article on ethics in the programming professional was very revealing. I find the subject on ethics very intriguing and in as much as want to defend my profession, there is a lot of ethical issue around programming. But as I have learned in the article on “ethical programming,” a programmer should be in a position to develop ethical boundaries and learn how to handle complicated ethical situations when they come up.
