A typical classroom environment
A typical classroom environment does not guarantee a personalized learning experience for a student. Due to this, tutors can easily customize course content for a student. Also, private tutoring helps a tutor learn the student’s abilities and learning styles. Tutors can help a student develop these abilities: communication skills, research skills, and problem-solving skills.
Tutors play a significant role in improving a student’s performance in exams! While working with a tutor, the student’s understanding of the related subject will improve, which will result in higher performance – higher than the rest of the class. Apart from academic performance, the student’s attitude towards learning may develop due to the constant encouragement from the tutor.
Having a tutor helps a student develop social and behavioral skills that may help foster better, healthy relationships with peers and teachers. Tutors are also important because they help prepare a student for college, where they will require advanced study skills and time management skills to thrive. Tutors continually help students prepare for exams; consequently, they also make them gain skills that would make them successful in their profession.
Since some students are slow learners, one-to-one attention from tutors can help the students be at the same level as others. According to Riddel and Bates, private tutoring allows students to build trust in the student-tutor relationship, and “they find it easy to approach their tutors.” (Riddel & Bates, 2010).
