Air Pollution and Human Health
Air pollution is a significant threat to human health. Various scientific researches have been conducted on the effect of air pollution on human health, and it is evident that polluted can cause a lot of harm to human health. Exposure to pollutants such as ozone, sulfur oxide nitrogen oxide is a threat to the human respiratory system. These pollutants are harmful to human vision as they cause irritation of eyes or even damage them completely.
Chronic diseases, such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis, are associated with air pollution effects. Pieces of evidence show that during respiratory illness if those who are ill are exposed to polluted air, the chances of developing chronic diseases are very high. The study conducted by the America Lung Association found that particulate pollution results in the death of more than 319,000 people in 50 states. From this study, the figures are clear evidence that air pollution is a significant threat to humans and should be a point of concern to the bodies mandated to reduce air pollution in the country. A big percentage of people who die prematurely working in or living around areas with most air pollution is worrying. This indicates that air pollution doesn’t only result in diseases but also premature deaths.
According to the study conducted, carbon monoxide concentration hiders transportation of blood hemoglobin that carries oxygen. This has resulted in headaches and fatigue in low concentrations and death in high concentrations. Pregnant women and infants are the most victims at risk of carbon monoxide pollution as they are the ones in need of more oxygen and clean air. People living in areas with clean air have less respiratory problems compared to those living in polluted areas.
Air pollution is a threat to human health and can result in various diseases like emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Air pollution poses a significant threat to people living with respiratory illness and can even result in death. Air pollution has resulted in premature deaths of people living or working in highly polluted areas. Air pollution effects should be looked at, and stiff control measures are put in place to reduce health problem cases as a result of air pollution.
