No one can dispute that modernity has impacted the different aspects of people’s life. Communication, education, social settings, and relationship have significantly changed over the years. Meanwhile, it emerges that youths are the most vulnerable group, which affected by the negative influence of modernization.  Adaptation models have evolved dramatically under the influence of modernity, and the previously vibrant social relationships have paved the way anomaly. In the current society, the challenges remain to be adaptation and coping social and interpersonal relationships, which are of great importance to the youths. At the same time, modernization threatens to counterbalance or the efforts to teach moral standards. While modernity is an inherent aspect in life in solving problems and bringing significant change to the society, modernization has impacted the social life of the youths by contributing to moral disintegration, cultural decay, and loss of substantial moral values, which gave meaning to human life in earlier periods. This paper will seek to address the topic of “Modern Youth. It will examine and provide a critical, evidenced analysis of a modern youth commentary.  The paper will also scrutinize the aspects of modernity that were welcomed, rejected, and unrecognized and how the social and political divisions of the period reflected in the debates over modernity.

The most recent debates on modernity tend to be structured around the change and how various communities and cultures change when people from different societies come into contact. In the “Twenties in Contemporary Commentary”, the author contends that the older generation ought to have ruined the world before passing it to the current generation. He maintains that the current generation is disillusioned and is literally about to “die” due to the terrible moral values. However, the youths are still overjoyed by the comfort they are experiencing.

The youths have become disrespectful. Some of the vital traditions that guided on how the boys and girls should interact have been abandoned. He allegedly claims that the media has played a significant role in destroying morals. Contextualized by the conversation of the children, it is revealed that the children have become disobedient and adamant to yield to the parents’ instructions. The author draws a juxtaposition of two children, now teens, who were barely little eight years ago but are now men and women in the club dancing and drinking. The girls are seen swaying around half-naked and having applied makeups to make them attractive. Boys, too, are taking prohibited whiskey. The most recent trend is teens using social media platforms like tinder to hook up. This is a disgrace to society because the youth use social media to fulfill their sexual desires.

The youths are preoccupied with the subject of sex. However, the teens are the students and advocates of this moral decadence. The teenagers are inclined to this topic of sex, which is contrary to the older generations. The discussions held by the youths are imperceptible in solving future reflexive problems. The paths of life adopted by the youths are leading them to the devil. In essence, modernity should not be perceived from the positive side and what it looks like. Instead, it should be viewed in how it is experienced in different social contexts and the implications it has on society and social living.

The youths are the perfect depiction of moral decadence. Just as the author of the contemporary noted, the teens give utmost priority to their dominating attitude and enjoyment at the expense of the basic needs of the parents. Many parents have been deprived of peace of mind by the constant lavish needs of their children.  They do not listen to their teachers, parents, and elders. They have an ego and often believe they are kings who live their own lives and do not need any guidance. The lack of moral values and respect for parents has not only caused social chaos that inspires criminal activities but has also contributed to the involvement of the youths in criminal activities.  Rarely do the adolescents who engage in criminal activities continue with their studies. They instead opt to involve themselves in evil activities

To sum up, the decrease of Morals in America’ s youth population has been seen to be a uniform trend over the succeeding generations. The previous generations were taught morals which they were expected to follow precisely and pass them to their children. However, the recent generations became lenient to their children, and this paved a loop for the children to completely disregard the morals by failing to teach them the culture, moral values, and traditions of the society. The aftermath of this has been declined ethical standards and lack of respect by the youth. This situation can only be rectified by establishing a secure and close connection with the teens to ensure that a sense of trust and morality is cultivated in the youths. This paper has proved the thesis that despite modernization being significant, it has contributed to the moral decline among the youths. Indeed, the youth have become slaves of the internet, where they perform all kinds of activities.
