Ashley (2014) talks about the black woman and how she is portrayed in society. She narrates the stereotypes of the woman of color that contributes significantly to the domestic violence among African American families. The article is substantial in that it provides clear information on the effects of domestic violence among women of color. However, it does not give possible solutions to the problems. It will be used to highlight the issue of homicides as an effect of domestic violence in African American families.

Campbell (2012) suggests that domestic violence, sometimes, affects the mental state of the victims. It creates phobia, anxiety, and depression, among other mental illnesses. Apart from mental instability, domestic violence also leads to physical damages like broken bones or wounds on the victims. The article is broad enough when it comes to describing a domestic violence scenario and its effects on ones’ health. However, it does not clearly state the long-term impact of these illnesses or their possible solutions. Moreover, the article is relevant for the paper as it offers information on the effects of domestic violence, which are being focused on.

Cooper (2015) talks about the prominence of women in America. It gives thoughts on the issue affecting African American women, one being domestic violence and its causes. It majorly focuses on substance abuse as a cause of domestic violence and how it leads to homicides. The article provides a significant cause of domestic violence that leads to killings but not the solution to it. It will be used to talk about substance abuse as a cause of domestic violence and how it leads to homicides.

Johnson (2011) talks about some of the possible resolutions to domestic violence among African American families. He suggests public mobilization as one way of solving domestic violence in that the people should be enlightened by the use of mass media strategies to get rid of some cultural norms that contribute to domestic violence. The article is relevant as it offers a solution to the problem. However, it does not give the probability of this method working. It will be used in the paper to provide a possible solution to domestic violence.

Thoennes (2010) talks about the violence between intimate partners and their consequences. One of the effects being homicides among women of color. It explains on jealousy as a cause of domestic violence and how it leads to murders. The article is useful in providing a leading cause of killings but not the solution as well. It will be used to demonstrate the causes of domestic violence and how it leads to killings in African American families.

United Nations (2016) sought to find ways of ending violence against women generally. It talks in-depth about all forms of violence against women. It also focuses on how to complete the violence by the use of actions and not just words. The article clearly states the different forms of domestic violence and even the possible effect of homicides that result in it. However, the actions said to be done to end violence may not apply to other situations. It will be used in the paper to give some of the possible solutions to ending domestic violence among women.

USAID (2016) discusses domestic violence, in general, basing on gender. It gives a data analysis of domestic violence among both men and women, specifically among women of color. A recent data analysis shows that women of color are the most affected by this problem. The article provides a reliable analysis of domestic violence among the African American community. However, it does not offer possible solutions to this analysis as to what can be done to reduce the rate of homicides. It will be used to provide general information on domestic violence basing on gender.

WHO/LSHTM (2010) talks about the different ways of preventing domestic violence among women, mostly caused by their significant other. It sheds light on homicides as consequences of domestic violence and also gives the data analysis on the same. The article is reliable basing on the rates and data analysis. However, it does not offer possible solutions to the matter. It will be used to give a secure data analysis of homicides rates resulting from domestic violence.

WHO (2010) sought to find some possible solutions to preventing domestic violence and violence in general. It states that violence prevention should begin at the age between childhood and adolescence as they should be educated on the consequences of violence. The article is reliable on the prevention plan as it is from a resourceful program. However, the solution offered is unreliable, as it might not work in most cases. It will be used to provide a possible solution for domestic violence against women of color.

Williams (2018) explains the domestic violence of intimate partners. It gives the causes of partner abuse that result in homicides among African American women. The article is reliable as it clarifies the violence between private partners. However, it does not give the data analysis of the same. It will be used to provide information on the causes of partner abuse that lead to homicides among African American women.
