An effort to increase pilots in such areas include standardizing the requirements for the first officers in local Airlines. The reference is applicable to my research study because it elaborates on the shortage of pilots in the US, especially in Great Lakes Airlines.

According to Higgins, Lovelace, Lounsberry and Bjerke (2013), pilot labor is becoming scarce in the US. At least 95,000 pilots should be hired in the next 20 years in the US to help cater to the issue of the pilot shortage. Description of the need for pilots in the US remains as the purpose of the research. The reference is applicable to my research paper because it provides background information on the topic of the pilot shortage.

Mburu, W. (2017). Pilot Shortage.

 

The research by Mburu (2017) indicates that low wages have facilitated the shortage of pilots in the US. The purpose of the reference is to indicate the need to increase wages for pilots to ensure pilots work in the US and stop moving to other countries offering higher wages. The research shows that the lack of increasing wages to pilots will continue causing a shortage of pilots in the US. The reference is applicable to my research project because it addresses the problem of the pilot shortage.

From the research study, it is evident that the evaluation is regularly done to show the performance of pilots. In the evaluation, aviation safety is discussed to ensure improvements are done by pilots in their responsibilities. The research is applicable to my research h paper because it describes safety in aviation which is an important concept for pilots.

Samost, J. (2018). An Analysis of Regional Airlines’ Response to the Pilot Shortage and How It Impacts Collegiate Pilots.

 

In 2018, Samost conducted research to indicate the problem of pilot shortage in regional airlines. The purpose of the research is to describe the problem of inadequate officials in the aviation industry. The reference shows that lack of supporting aviation studies will remain as a threat to Airlines because pilot shortage will remain an unsolved issue. Samost in his research discusses the shortage of pilots; hence the research is applicable in my paper.

Thompson, N. (2018). Avoiding a Pilot Retention Death Spiral: The Pilot Shortage and DOD’s Challenge to Maintain an Effective Fighting Force. Joint Forces Staff College/NDU NORFOLK United States.

The research by Thompson discusses the inadequacy of pilots. Thompson claims that new strategies in aviation fighting force will ensure the problem of pilot shortage is fully addressed. The purpose of the study was to analyze pilot retention based on commercial airlines. The reference discusses a topic in aviation and is relevant to my research project.
